Today is our anniversary!  I did not realize that our anniversary was today until Steve told me!  He said that we have been married 48 years.  We told the ladies that work at the Child Center and they were amazed that we knew how many years that we had been married and that we had been married so long!

Adamu, the very severely malnourished child that we worked so hard with last year, came back to the Child Center two days ago.  She had lost 2 pounds!  We were not happy!  Her mother was not happy.  Her mother said that she had been suffering from a fever and a cough and that she did not feel like eating.  We could look at her and see that she did not feel well.  Steve gave them the money to go to the hospital.  Adamu’s mother called Zorash this morning and told her that the day before yesterday they went to the hospital and waited all day and they did not see the doctor; she said that she went back yesterday and it was the same thing.  She said that Adamu’s fever got very high during the night!  Zorash told her not to wait any longer but to take the baby to the clinic near the mission house.  When she went to the clinic they saw her right away and did some lab tests and an x-ray.  We gave them the money for the lab test and for the medicine that the doctor prescribed.  Hopefully she will feel better in a few days.  Of course they were not given a diagnosis.

We finished making the payroll packets for the next 4 months so that is something we can check off the “To Do List”.

The lady that sells the fabric seconds called this morning and said she had a new shipment of seconds and she wanted us to come and look at them.  After the Child Center closed Zorash and I headed to the lady’s house.  We needed to make a deposit in the checking account in Yendi so we took the opportunity to stop at the bank and make the deposit.  When we got to the fabric lady’s house she was not at home.  Zorash called her to see where she was.  She said that she was in a yellow- yellow (3 wheeled taxi) headed to her house.  She asked us to wait for her.  The lady that makes the bread for the seminar is a neighbor to the fabric lady so we took the opportunity to see if the bread lady had any freshly made bread or better yet if she had raw bread dough that we could take home and cook ourselves.  We were lucky she had just set bread to rise so we bought a few loaves from her.  I gave some to Zorash for her family.  I only used part of the bread I bought; I made Stromboli for supper and a pan of cinnamon rolls.  When I take the Stromboli out of the oven I will put in the cinnamon rolls.

Today was payday for the workers so everyone was happy when they left the mission house today!  Payday only comes around once a month so by the end of the month the workers are more than ready to be paid.

Take care!

The Monkeyshines

I finally was able to get those eyes off that new toy the parents bought me last time they went to Tamale!  I like the toy much better now; it was creepy the way that thing stared me down every time I jumped on it!  Now I don’t have to worry about sneaking up on it from behind; I can just jump on him from all sides because he can’t see me!

This morning when Mom brought me in the house Donkey was inside the house getting his pay.  Donkey asked how I was doing this morning.  Mom told him that I was not fine because I had a bad dream and that I needed to go to a “soothsayer” to see what the dream was all about!  Mom was only joking but Donkey thought she was serious and he asked what kind of a dream I had!  Some people never understand a joke!  You know Donkey believes in lots of that Juju stuff.

While Mom was cooking supper Dad cut up a couple of Papayas (Papaws).  While he was working I was eating; I ate so many pieces of Papaw that I was beginning to feel sick.  You know they say that Papaya is good for your stomach; it is supposed to aid in digestion.  After as many pieces of Papaw that I ate today my digestion should be “perfect”!

No more jokes for the Ghanaians!
