Zorash was not here again today so we were short-handed in the Child Center. We thought she went to Tamale yesterday when she took her holiday but she did not. She went to Tamale today. We are not sure why she went to Tamale but we know she has a small piece of land over there that she is trying to show some development on so it does not get taken away from her. Last year she dumped gravel on the property and this year she is going to have some crushed limestone put on the property to further secure her rights to the property.
Divine was here early this morning. The paper work in Tamale was ready to be picked up and signed. When he got to Tamale he found out the dead line for getting the documents signed and turned back in is tomorrow. Steve, Timothy and Divine have been on the phone most of the afternoon trying to get in touch with the brothers to get them to come in early tomorrow morning so Divine can get back to Tamale tomorrow afternoon before the office closes. We are trying to avoid penalties.
We had a very interesting discussion tonight at Bible study. Steve talked about Stephen’s death and what he preached to the people about Moses before he was stoned. The story generated lots of questions. Abenata, one of the ladies, asked a very strange question. She asked if Stephen would be able to go to heaven because he was a young man. After a little investigation we figured out she was relating Stephen’s death to the death of young men in this area. The traditional belief is that if a young man dies his spirit never is at rest. His spirit just roams aimlessly around troubling the village and especially the women in the village by visiting them in the night. Because of this belief when a young man dies they take his body and bury it deep in the bush far away from the village to protect the village from his spirit. This question launched another discussion about what happens to the spirit when someone dies and where the spirit goes.
Hope you have a great day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
