What a “trying day”!  I hate to complain but I just have to vent!  I told you that Ghana has initiated a new plan in which everyone in Ghana has to re-register their SIM cards for their cell phone chips before the end of March 2022.  There are around 5 million people in Accra alone not to mention all the people all over Ghana.  They just started the re-registration last month.  We have 4 SIM cards ourselves.  We got up early this morning and were at the MTN office 45 minutes before they opened.  What a mess!  There were already 30 or 40 people in line ahead of us.  People just kept breaking in front of other people.  The crowd got rowdy because no numbers were passed out so those in charge had no idea who was in line first.  Finally after a couple hours of waiting we were allowed inside the building.  We thought the process would be easy; present your documentation; re-register and leave but no.  We had to go to 3 stations before the process was completed.  They had no way of registering multiple SIM cards to the same person so for every SIM card we had to go through the same process.  Then finger prints had to be taken and photos taken.  Steve had to have his finger prints and photo taken 3 times.  They did not do all of our cell phones at the same time either; in between registering each of Steve’s numbers they pulled someone else in and re-registered theirs.  We were at the office for 6 hours!  Yes, 6 hours.  But hopefully we are done.

Needless to say we did not do anything much today except stand / sit in line.  Steve even had enough time while we were waiting to go to the hospital and pick up our Covid test which thankfully were both negative!  Then Steve had to go online and get the QR code for the test.  After we got back to the hotel we had enough time to grab a bite to eat, shower, and fill out our travel documents to enter New York.

We are presently sitting in the airport.  We have checked our luggage and are waiting for them to call us for one final check on our carry-ons before we are put in the “holding pen” to wait to board the flight.

Thank you for all the prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
