We are running around like chickens with our heads cut off. We are trying to get everything closed up and all the loose ends tied up because we are going to go back to the states for a couple weeks. My brother is not doing well; we will only be gone for a couple weeks and then we will come back to Ghana for the seminar. This is reminiscent of our activities last year in October when Steve’s brother died and we made a trip home for his memorial service.
Our plan is to leave at 4:00 in the morning headed to Tamale. If all goes as planned we will fly to Accra at 8:00 in the morning. We could not book tickets to the states from Yendi because the there is a 7 day lockout period; we have to physically buy them in Accra at the Delta office. The agent said she could hold the tickets for 24 hours. We could not pay for them with a credit card; we have to either pay in Cedis or Dollars. They make it almost as hard to leave the country as it is to enter.
Two of the vehicles have to have the road worthy stickers renewed next week. We contacted Abduli; one of their agents, and he is going to take care of getting the stickers for us. Red will drive us to Tamale tomorrow.
Amama was very happy when she left this morning because I cleaned out the refrigerator and she got all the produce and anything that might spoil while we are gone. We picked up the metal door for one of the buildings at Kulkpeni and we hauled it and the paint out there this afternoon. Timothy is going to start painting the buildings while we are gone. The old van is loaded with veranda poles and cement; the church is going to make a new bath house for the seminar. We will deliver the items when we go to Bible study in a little while. We gave Timothy extra money for fuel so he can go and visit the churches that we are scheduled to visit the next two Sundays. We gave the payroll to Mr. Iddrisu and a few minor instructions.
Please pray for our brother Buz and his family during this difficult time. I know they would appreciate the prayers. Also pray for us and for safe travels.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
