We went back to Tamale again today. Lucky us! Last night we got a message from Enterprise, the company that manages the employees Tier 2 contribution for their retirement fund. They told us that the validation code had finally been generated and that we could come on Thursday to pay for next year. We were so happy, we had been waiting on it for over a week. We did not have anything else to do in Tamale except go to the bank and pay for the contribution; while we were at the bank we decided to withdraw a little more money; this project at Kulkpeni keeps draining our funds! We got back to Yendi at 1:30 so we actually had a little time this afternoon to do something. At 3:30 we went out to Kulkpeni to redo yet another portion of the toilet project that had not been done correctly. The carpenter broke several of the decorative blocks when he put on the roof; we bought new ones to replace the broken ones. The roofs of the buildings are held on by wrapping ¼ inch rods around the wall plate and secured by a hole that is drilled in the cement walls of the building. The rafters are nailed to the wall plate. The ¼ rods are very much like lightweight rebar. Well, the carpenter anchored the roof to the toilet doors instead of the cement; that was one of the dumbest things we had ever seen. He said that beating on the wall to make a hole for the rods was what caused the decorative block to break so he decided to do something different. We took a cement drill bit, a drill, more ¼ rods, bolt cutters, wire pliers and screws out to the jobsite. Steve removed the old ¼ rods, drilled holes and secured the roof the correct way! What a waste of our time! John got the walls put up on the bath houses today; they are looking good.
Timothy Niligrini said that he went to Tamale today too. We told him that if we had known he needed to go he could have ridden with us. He said that he knew we went because we passed the public transport bus he was riding in. He had to go back to his daughter’s school because they still had her enrolled in the welding classes. He said that he successfully got her transferred to the catering department. Can you imagine welding outside in this heat?
I drove to Tamale this morning while Steve rode in the passenger seat. He tied ties all the way to Tamale. We are going to give the evangelists and church leaders ties and shirts tomorrow when they come in for the monthly class. He got them all tied just before we got into Tamale. It was a job that we desperately needed to get done. The men do not really know how to tie ties so Steve ties them and when the men take them off, they leave them tied until the next time they want to wear them.
Take care and have a great day!

The parents went to Tamale again today. I am disappointed because they did not bring me back a treat this time! They were not gone very long and they did not do any shopping while they were gone but that just sounds like a lame excuse to me! I would have been happy with a papaya; I am not that hard to please! At least they were only gone ½ the day today!
I am laying on the bed with Dad; we are watching some broad cast of some sort; I like to look at the cell phone as much as I like watching TV. At least the news is not as scary as those wild animals on the TV. I even like to look at the cell phone when it is not on because I can see my reflection on the dark screen. I am a handsome guy! Dad just gave me a bottle and I drank the whole thing so I am getting sleepy! I think I will take a nap before I go to bed!
I deserve a present when I have been left alone all day!
Love, Skeeter
