As soon as we woke up this morning I realized that we did not have the receipt from the medical exam that the doctor did on Steve yesterday.  The last time I remember seeing it was when we gave it to the immigration inspector as proof that Steve had paid and completed the exam.  We have to have the receipt to pick up the medical certificate.  We had planned on going shopping this morning but there was no way I could enjoy my shopping trip with the uncertainty of where our receipt was.  We were at the immigrations office shortly after they opened.  We went to see the inspector and asked him if he had the receipt.  We were pleased that he did.  Evidently he forgot that we needed it to pick up the results.  We went straight to the lab and the results were ready for us.  Of course Steve passed with flying colors!

We decided to go to visit the Nurses and Midwife’s Council before we went shopping.  We did not need anything from them; we just wanted to greet them and see how everyone was fairing through the Corona Pandemic.  They were very happy to see us.  They don’t call us by our names; they call us “Cookie” or “Cookie’s Mom and Dad.” Cookie was the name of a tea cup apricot poodle that my mom brought over here in 1999.  The dog was famous; it went everywhere with us.  She lived with us in Accra when Steve was doing his nursing orientation.  The teachers and nurses fell in love with Cookie.  They had never seen such a small dog.  We kept her hair cut like she had a mane.  They asked if she was a baby lion.

While we were visiting the Nurses Council the immigration man called us and said that one of the documents we had given him was expired!  Please we were sick.  We quickly caught a taxi and went back across town to the immigration office.  We made a copy of the correct document and he was satisfied.

By this time it was lunch time so we went back to the apartment / hotel and had a bite of lunch.  Yes, I did finally get to go shopping.  We went to the carver’s village and I bought enough stuff to fill the empty suitcase that we brought with us.  Yes, I brought an empty suitcase; we girls have to be prepared!

I spent the afternoon sorting and entering receipts.  BORING!

Take care; hopefully our next Yendi Notes will actually be sent from Yendi!

In His Service,
