Today is Zorash’s day off; she called this morning to ask if she could work today and take Wednesday off to go to Tamale for a meeting.  That sounded good to us.

This morning as we were leaving the compound to take the green truck to the mechanic, one of Dawda’s men was standing at the gate.  Dawda is the mason that is going to hang the garage doors for us.  He said that Dawda was coming to hang the doors today.  That was news to us; we did not call him; I guess Red told him he had finished making the doors.  We quickly went to town; dropped off the truck and picked up a bag of cement.  The power steering line in the truck sprang a leak.

I lost count of how many trips to town we made today.  We were totally unprepared to start this job!  Usually Dawda comes out the day before and we make a list of the things that we need.  We made a trip for more cement; then the wheel barrel was broken so we went to town to rent another one; we had to go buy boards so Dawda could make pillar boxes; we had to buy rebar to put inside the pillars to make them strong.  We had to go back to the welder because the hinges he made were not long enough.  Finally this afternoon Red showed up and he helped hang the doors straight and to make something for us to be able to lock the doors.  He went to his shop and brought the stuff to the mission house to finish welding; that was easier for him than running back and forth to his shop.  It is almost 6:00 and the guys are still out there working.  I know that Dawda wants to finish the job today.  When they work late I have to pay them overtime.  Did I mention that we dislike building projects?  They had to tear down the middle support pillar; it was made out of cement.  Nazo hauled the rubble outside the fence and put it in a place on the road that has a serious erosion problem.  No telling how many pounds of rubble we have put in that washed out place.

I don’t know what happened to the rest of my notes!  I had finished them and went away but when I came back the computer had shut down and done some sort of “auto save” which only saved part of what I had written.  Now I can’t remember what I said!  Such is life!

Take care and have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
