Mr. Iddrisu and Zorash were both late for work this morning.  Fortunately Amina, Nazo’s wife came very early; as soon as she got here she started roasting the corn.  If she had not come early we would not have gotten the grain cooked this morning and all the ladies would have had to stay late to finish it.

Zorash got a load of shea butter in just as she was leaving her house this morning to come to work.  Zorash has a contact in the UK that she sends shea butter to.  When the shea nuts are harvested and the ladies begin to make shea butter she buys it from them until she gets enough to send to the lady in the UK.  It is a lot of work for Zorash but I think she makes good money.  Shea butter is not the only thing that Zorash has sent this lady.  The lady is originally from Ghana so Zorash has sent her peanut paste, corn fritters and Kulikulee (the solids that are left after the oil is removed from the peanut paste).

Mr. Iddrisu on the other hand was late because he is trying to buy a motor king. One of those 3 wheeled vehicles with a truck bed on the back and a motorcycle on the front.  Anyway he had a plot of land behind the mission property that he was not going to use so he sold it and wants to reinvest the money into a motor king.  We think it is a good idea and will bring in money for him every day.  He does not plan to drive it himself but to hire someone to drive it for him.  Now that might not be the best idea unless he can find someone that is very trustworthy and careful.  Can you imagine what a mess he would be in if someone wrecked it or ran over some one?

Steve spent part of the afternoon cutting the “fire blight” out of the trees with his new extension pruner.   By the pile of limbs under the trees it appears to be doing a good job.

Tichak, the night watchman, called this afternoon.  He was at the bicycle mechanics having some repairs done on his bicycle and he needed the money to pay for the repairs.  When Tichak was hired to be one of the watchmen part of the deal we made with him was that we would provide him with a bicycle so he would have a way to get to work and back.  He is a church member at Kulkpeni which is about 5 miles from the mission house.  His bicycle is getting pretty well worn out.  Steve told him this afternoon that he would buy him a new used bike.

Take care and have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
