We finally got that Tax Clearance Certificate! Can you imagine? Well, guess what? The Certificate expires in December! Please! The Ghana Revenue manager told Steve that he needed to hurry up and turn it in before it expires. Now you know he could have put whatever date he wanted to on the certificate. I see another trip to Tamale in our very near future.
We went to Tamale this morning to renew the Road Worthy sticker for the new van. When we were gathering everything we needed for the renewal we realized that the fire extinguisher had expired. Crazy isn’t it that the Ghanaian law requires each vehicle to have a fire extinguisher. They don’t have to be big, they just have to be in the vehicle and in date. Not only do we have to have a fire extinguisher but we also have to have a first aid kit and emergency triangles; Oh! Yea! The horn also has to work! Tamale is the closest place to get the annual renewal. Steve stopped before we got to the motor vehicle office and bought a new fire extinguisher; when he got to the van with it I told him he had got the wrong one. He got the one that they rejected last time because it does not have a handle. He stopped at another place and bought the correct one.
We decided to go to the bank and get the money while we were in Tamale and we also needed ink cartridges for the printers.
Steve took one of the tires off the green truck and the spare with us to Tamale along with the new tires he bought a few weeks ago. There is no one in Yendi that can balance the tires. Steve hopes that they will last longer and ride smoother if they are balanced but really on these bush roads with hundreds of potholes who could tell if you were getting a smoother ride or not.
As we were leaving this morning Mr. Iddrisu came over to get an advance on his pay so he could fix the chain and sprockets on his motorcycle. Red met us as we were locking the gate; the guys had come with a motor king full of cement blocks. We decided to buy the blocks ready made from Red instead of molding our own. The masons mold the blocks one at a time and then we have to buy water to water the block every day so they will be stronger and then we have to wait a while for them to cure. All in all we think that it will be to our advantage to buy Red’s blocks. We left the back gate key with Red and headed to Tamale.
Thank you for all you do for us and for the work.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
