The tile layer did not show up for work today to start fixing his mistakes. They had sold all of the floor tiles that matched what we had originally bought so we had to pick another tile; it is going to look silly but there was nothing else that we could do. The tile layer may run from the job because it is going to waste a lot of his time to fix his mistake. John the mason called him; he said that he would come but not today; we will have to wait and see if he shows up tomorrow. John attached a one block high step to the toilet houses today. We did not want to have steps but the step from the ground into the toilet room is too high so a step was needed. Slowly but surely, we are getting the Kulkpeni project finished. It is a good thing too because the Martins are arriving on Friday.
We have been trying to get the Withholding Taxes (WHT) for October figured but it has been a chore because we have new vendors that we have to get information on before we can pay their taxes. Many of them are resistant to give us their information because they are afraid that if we pay WHT the government will begin to require them to pay each month. We don’t really know how all that works but we are just trying to do what we have to do to satisfy GRA (IRS). We wanted to pay them today but we don’t have the roofer’s information; he promised to bring it tomorrow.
The fuse panel in the green truck melted; we could tell something was getting very hot; Steve said that he could feel the heat coming from under the steering wheel. This time Gomda, the mechanic, took it to a new electrician. Hopefully the new fuse box will take care of the problem. I can just see the headlines now, “MISSIONARIES KILLED BY AN ELECTRICAL FIRE”! Ha!
This morning, we went to the meat market to buy beef. We like to get there early so we can beat the flies! Meri and Amama helped us work up the meat; we made hamburger, pounded steaks and cubed stew meat to freeze. The meat is laying on cement slabs and the butcher cuts off whatever piece you ask for. They do not trim the meat so when we work it up there is a lot that we do not use so we share with the workers. They are always happy when we work up the beef. There will be meat in their stew pots tonight!
Enjoy your day!

The Monkeyshines
I am sharing my jail cell with a mouse! I am not happy about it either! The mouse steals my peanuts that are still in the shell and my tiger nuts; he even took one of my carrots! You know that mice don’t eat carrots! What was he thinking? He hauled all the food items into that dark entry area that I hate to pass through when the parents release me on good behavior! Mom is not happy about the mouse either! She says that they are nasty creatures and that they carry fleas, ticks and diseases! Well, if that mouse would stand still long enough Mom would have him to the vets and fill him full of needle holes! Dad decided that he would set a couple mouse traps on the ground outside my jail cell. He made sure to put them in areas that I could not reach. He wasted perfectly good peanut butter on the traps and caught nothing! In fact, he actually lost the traps; they disappeared and this time it was not my fault! Mom came out to check the traps to see if there had been any activity and she could not find them. She asked Donkey if he saw the traps; he said he did not know what a mouse trap was. Donkey had raked around my jail cell that morning. He said that maybe he had swept them up and taken them to the burn pile; he said he had not set fire to the leaves yet and he would look for the traps. It took him a little while but he found the traps. Silly man! I think he could have heard the traps snap when he was raking them up; besides, who throws away stuff without looking at it?
The mouse is still at large!
Love, Skeeter
