The conflict between the Konkombas and the Chokosi continues. Today Divine called and said he had talked to someone in Saboba. He said that the Chokosi had decided to attack the village of Tombu because today is Saboba’s big market day and they thought most of the men would go to the market and they could come in and set fire to the village. Well, surprise the men did not go to the market and when the Chokosi warriors attacked they chased them and were able to catch 12 but some ran off into the bush. To Tombu’s credit they did not kill the men; they hauled them to the police station in Saboba. They confiscated their weapons and ammunition. Of course that will go into Tombu’s stockpile of guns. Since Tombu did not kill the men we hope it helps calm the situation. At least the government will know that they didn’t do more killing when they had the opportunity. As soon as Steve heard about it he called Noah, one of the church leaders at Tombu to make sure everyone was ok. Noah does not speak very good English but he made Steve understand that he was fine and all the church members were safe but no one dares to leave the village because they could attack again at any time. Steve had Timothy call and check on things too. Please keep these people in your prayers.
Today was our day for buying supplies for the Child Center. We were not able to get all the liquid vitamins and liquid acetaminophen that we needed but the pharmacists agreed to order more for us. It should be here early next week. He had a few cases so we will not run out before the new comes in. We also stopped and bought paint. We did not unload the truck; we just parked it in the garage because we were out during the hottest part of the day and we decided that we would just wait until in the morning when it was cooler. The high temperature today was 111 degrees with a heat index of 134 degrees.
We have almost finished entering the receipts for March. We hope to have that job finished before we go to bed tonight; if we get busy we might even have it finished before supper.
Take care and have a great day! We appreciate your love, prayers and support. Thank you for all you do for us and for the work.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
