Steve taught the continuing education classes to the workers this morning. One of the lessons was on baby formula and the other was on Ebola. Steve thought that since the Ebola is back in the Congo it was time to have a refresher course on how to protect yourself if it starts to spread again. Everyone enjoyed the class. Steve usually provides refreshments for us when we have the class but since Muslims were among us and they are in the middle of their month long fast he gave them a little money for their pockets instead.
Divine stopped by this morning to greet us. He was taking his brother to the hospital. His brother had a motorcycle accident a few days ago and he could not stand upright. His right side around his ribs hurts and his arm hurts. Divine wanted to be sure that nothing was broken. They did some tests and they have to go back to the hospital in the morning.
John Nchola and Timothy Niligrini stopped by for a visit today too. John has been an evangelist for a long time. He is in the process of trying to re-locate because the village is not happy with him. If you remember some time ago we told you that John’s brother had been accused of being a witch and John helped him leave the village, then they accused John of being a witch. John’s brother finally came back to the village to stand before the elders. The last thing we heard was that John’s brother admitted to having Juju (witchcraft / talismans/ idols) and the chief of the village was looking for a stronger Juju (witchdoctor) to destroy the Juju of John’s brother. Is this like something out of a bad movie or what? But most of the villagers believe! John and his extended family may all have to leave the village. This village still needs your prayers.
We asked John about the conflict and the fighting that was going on in his area that prevented us from visiting them last Sunday. He said that things were still tense but that for the moment the military had everything under control but there are whisperings that people are gathering bullets and buying guns in preparation of fighting again. John said that he hopes everything has calmed down by next Sunday when we are supposed to visit them. If things are not safe he will call us and let us know so we can change our plans.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
