Not much to tell today.   We have enjoyed not having anything to do.  First thing this morning we went for a walk to familiarize ourselves with this section of Accra.  We hoped to find a restaurant but only found a couple of outdoor Ghanaian chop bars.  (fast food)  Then we went to the cultural center that is near our old hotel.  We did a little shopping and then had the taxi driver take us to our favorite restaurant “The Palace” which serves Chinese food.  The owners are Chinese.  The strangest thing about the restaurant is the large bottles that are sitting on the counter as you enter the restaurant with the other drinks.  Some of the containers have snakes in them.  We think the liquid the snakes are floating in is some sort of alcohol but we are not sure.  We presume that people consume the liquid.  It is sort of creepy but the food is delicious.

This afternoon we walked down to the market that is near the apartment looking for a sewing needle.  I had some mending to do.  Many of the shops were closed because of the holiday.  Finally we found a seamstress that had a used needle she was willing to sell us.  It was rusty and the tip had been broken off of it.  We bought a metal scouring pad and cleaned the rust off but the tip was too far gone.  I tried to sharpen it on the tile in the bathroom but I really needed a grinding wheel.  Oh! Well we gave it a good try.

This is going to be the last Yendi Notes that you will receive until we get back to the states.  We will try to remember to send out a short note letting you know that we arrived safely.   Sometimes we forget because we are so excited to be home, so busy and so jet lagged that the day gets away from us.

Thank you for your prayers.  Speaking of prayers please pray for Larry Swindell, one of the deacons at Bethel.  He is having some health issue and we know he would appreciate the prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
