It was very hot today; we did not see the temperature at its highest but at 3:00 this afternoon it was 111 degrees with a heat index of 123 degrees. We hope that means it is going to rain.
Mr. Iddrisu did not come to work today; he was not feeling well yesterday and was dizzy. He went to the clinic near the mission house; they said that his blood pressure was high and they tested him for Typhoid. They said that he has Typhoid but we doubt it; he has no other symptoms of Typhoid. The test they have for Typhoid is very unreliable; it seems like all the tests come back positive.
Amama is still in her father’s village doing whatever has to be done to complete the funeral rites. She has already been gone more than 2 weeks. When Mr. Iddrisu’s mother died, he did not come to work for 1 month! Imagine what would happen if you did not come to work for 1 month!
We thought that the baby with Cerebral Palsy was going to get to come home today but he now has a fever so they are going to keep him in the hospital until the fever resolves itself. Steve sent them more money today to pay for the medicine they are going to give him.
A new set of twins came to the Center this morning. They are from Gushegu which is about 35 miles from Yendi. Their mother was in the hospital for about a month before they were born with high blood pressure. The mother died shortly after giving birth. We are concerned that the caregiver lives so far away from Yendi. The transport going and coming every week will be a lot for the family to pay. The clinic in Gushegu is going to help monitor the babies. The babies come every week for the formula and to be weighed; once we establish that the babies are gaining well we can length the time between visits to 2 weeks. Our thanks go out to those of you who help us with the babies!
When Red came back from Tamale on Saturday he brought the fabric we needed to make the blinds for Skeeter’s cage. We spent the afternoon working on the blinds. We got them made but we only got one of them hung up before we ran out of steam! The fabric looks like it is going to be strong enough to last a few years.
Have a good week!

The Monkeyshines
Mom and Dad worked all afternoon on the blinds for my jail cell! I loved it because I got to be outside and supervise the process! I was so much help! I jumped out of the tree onto Mom’s head and I stole Dad’s packet of cable ties that he was using to sandwich the fabric between the sheets of bulgur mesh! As soon as he saw me he was in hot pursuit! It only took me a second or two to dart up in the mango tree far enough that he could not reach me. Monkeys can’t laugh but I was laughing in my heart! You wouldn’t think Dad could move very fast but for an old guy gives me a run for my money!
I did not have to go in that Time Out box at all today! I was a very good boy! I only get up in Time Out for biting. I do not get put in there for being ornery or for getting into stuff I should not get into. Sometimes I snatch glasses, grab noses and pull hair. Today I heard Mom say, “After we get the biting problem under control we are going to have to start working on the grabbing noses and glasses.” That sounds like a threat to me! I had better enjoy those activities before the parents move into “Phase 2” of the Time Out thing!
“No! Please No! Phase 2”
Love, Skeeter
