We visited the congregation that meets at Binamondo this morning. It is east of Yendi on the road to Gnani. I drove around Robin Hood’s barn to get to our destination because the short way to the village is soooo bad. The weather was quite mild this morning due to a rain in the early morning hours.
When we arrived at the church building there were just a couple of men present so we walked over to the old chief’s house and greeted him. It has been a while since we have visited the Church and the chief. He encouraged us to keep visiting the Church.
I was invited to preach so having preached my padlock and key lesson I chose to preach on marriage. This kind of lesson always generates a lot of interest because there are so many old wives’ tales that are told about the different aspects of marriage such as customs and the responsibilities of the husband and wife. We have also found that polygamy is sometimes encouraged by the wife so she will have a subordinate to do her hard work for her. Polygamy is very popular in our area.
After services there were a number of questions pertaining to customs and marriage. It is great to have Timothy Niligrini interpreting for me because he knows the customs of his people. He is able to explain things in a way I can’t.
The men were happy to get the metal lock box we gave to them. Their plastic communion tray had been glued together so we promised to give them one of the new metal trays. We also took the measurements of the gateway into the church building. The building is a pavilion that has cemented mud ball walls ¾ of the way up allowing good air flow. The gate was an old wooden one that termites had chewed up. As soon as the metal gate is made we will notify them to come pick it up.
The class at Kulkpeni this afternoon was great. We are having more people attend the class than ever before which makes Timothy very happy.
That is it for today. Hope you’re having a good Lord’s Day. Please keep us in your prayers. May God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
