This afternoon while we were in town picking up our order of cereal for the babies Godfred, an acquaintance of ours, stopped to tell us about a widow lady with three children to support.  He said that her husband was killed last year in March.  Godfred is a teacher and the man that was killed was also a teacher here in Yendi.  He said there has been no evidence in the case and that they have no leads as to who did it.  Godfred said that his widow has no support and that her family is of little or no help to her.  She no longer lives in the Yendi area.  She moved back to her home village in the mountainous area in central Ghana.  Godfred said that she calls him every day begging for help to feed her children.  We decided that we should step in and help the lady.  We had Godfred call her and make sure that her cell phone had been registered to receive mobile money and then we sent her 400 Cedis which is about $100.  This should tide her over until the school system releases her husband’s pension and social security.  After she received the money she called and thanked us profusely for the money.  We pass her thanks on to you!  Without your help we would not have been able to help her.

Timothy only worked ½ a day painting today.  He is helping with some community service in his area.  He is helping Yendi hospital register all the people young and old in the Kulkpeni area that have seizures.  The hospital is working with some non-government organizations (NGO) to get free health insurance and free medication distributed to those that need it.

Even after the guys put up a double layer of field fencing 2 goats spent the night in the garage!  How annoying!  Steve, Nazo (the day man) and I spent an hour this morning chasing those goats around the property.  We wanted them to run out of their own free will so we could see how they were getting in but they just kept circling the yard and circling the yard.  Finally they got tired enough that Nazo was able to catch them and throw them over the fence.  We are not sure they are not somehow jumping / climbing over the fence and then cannot jump back to the other side.  We swept out the garage so we will be able to tell if they come back in.

Zorash is raising rabbits.  She said that her 2 mothers had 12 babies between them.  Not too bad!  Last year she bought some guinea pigs but they were not reproducing so she sold them.  She said she will just stick with rabbits.  Timothy also raises rabbits; his are doing well too.

The tail gate on the green truck keeps opening by itself as we are driving over these rough roads.  We took it to Gomda the mechanic this afternoon.  He thinks he got it fixed.  He changed the oil and fixed the backup lights while he had it.

Take care and have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
