After going and coming a couple times we finally bought a bicycle for Tichak the night watchman.   We went to the mechanic first thing this morning to see if he had found one yet.  We understood him to say that he had not had time to pick one out yet and that we needed to give him a little time because it rained yesterday and he did not get a chance to look for a good one.  We told him we would come back at 4:00 this afternoon to pick it up.  Well, when we got there at 4:00 he said that he wondered where we were because he thought we were going to come back and go with him to get the bike and pay for it.  I was just a “language barrier” problem!  The long and the short of it is we went and paid for the bike; the mechanic took it back to his shop and he is going to grease it and have it ready for us to pick up in the morning. Anyway that is what we heard!  Ha!

Mr. Iddrisu brought his new motor king to work this morning so we could see it.   I told him that he had to find a nice name for it.  I went on to explain that lots of people in the states name their vehicles; especially if they are their first vehicle or they have had them a long time.  My dad had an old blue ‘64 Chevy ¾ ton truck that we call the blue goose.  It was a beast!  Mr. Iddrisu is very proud of his motor king!  He still has to buy the number plates and get it registered in his name.

Dawda, the mason that did the work on the mission house earlier this year when we put on the new roof stopped by for a visit.  While he was here I heard Mr. Iddrisu tell him that if he had any contracts for hauling block or building materials he would like to have the job so he can start making some extra money with his motor king.

Before the Child Center opened this morning we started trimming trees.  We finished the big cashew tree in the front yard just in time to start seeing the babies.  Forty babies came to the Center this morning.  While we were working Mr. Alhassan the social welfare man for the Yendi area stopped by for a visit and to pick up a copy of the Child Center’s annual report.  He will add parts of the report to his report so that he can get more funding for this area. Funding is distributed according to the need in each area.

Steve took some rubber gloves and stethoscopes to the hospital.  They are always so appreciative of the things that Steve donates.  The stethoscopes were good used ones.  If you don’t have one a used one is better than none!

Take care and thank you for the help!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
