The Martins arrived on schedule this morning.  We had a little trouble getting to the airport.  It was raining when we got up this morning.  The van driver was supposed to be here at 6:30 so we would have plenty of time to get to the airport.   There is never any way of knowing how bad the traffic will be or what problems we might encounter.  The drivers are usually a little early but that was not the case this morning.  When he was 10 minutes late Steve called him.  He promptly answered and said that the rain had delayed him but he was on his way coming.  Steve called him 10 minutes later; he said that he would be here in 6 minutes.  He still wasn’t here at 7:00 so Ben, the guy that manages the hotel/apartment that we are staying at, called him to find out exactly where he was because we were ready to catch a taxi and let the van driver meet us at the airport.  He assured Ben that he was just down the hill from us and would be there in 3 minutes.  At 7:15 Ben called him again; he said that he was just coming up the hill.  Please!  Steve got a text from the Martins that they had arrived and were waiting on their luggage.  The driver finally arrived at 7:30 all apologetic.  I asked him what he was doing; he said that he was washing the van and that the rain had kept him from getting it cleaned.  Steve texted the Martins again to let them know what was going on.  We arrived at the airport just as people from their flight were exiting the airport.  We only had to wait a little.  They only had to open one of their bags in customs.

Before we left the airport, we went to the bathroom so Gina could change into cooler clothes.  When we left the airport, we headed to the slave castle and Kakum, the canopy bridge walkover.  It took us hours to get to the walkover because the road was so terrible!  It rained on us off and on all the way there but the rain had almost stopped by the time we got there.  We had a very cool cloudy day for our trip.

We got back to Accra around 8:30 this evening and we headed straight to the little pizza/ chicken fast food restaurant a few blocks away from the hotel.  We enjoyed our late supper because we only had snacks in the van; we were hungry for real food!

The van driver is going to be here at 7:00 in the morning.  Everyone is tired!

Thank you for the prayers, please keep praying as we travel tomorrow.
