Red, the part time driver, came to the mission house this morning to measure the door on the tool shed.  The tool shed is made of cement blocks and the door is wooden.  Over the years the frame has come loose from the cement.  They only secured the frame into the cement with oversized nails.  The threshold was eaten up by termites a long time ago.  Steve spent an hour or so working on it yesterday.  He got it to the place that we could lock it but it was just a temporary fix.  Red is also a welder; he is going to make a metal door that will last for a very long time.

When Red came this morning he brought the handicapped tricycle for 18 year old Asana.  It looked very nice even though it was not red!  She does not know that she is getting it.  She will be so surprised and happy.  We plan on delivering it on Monday morning after we finish at the Child Center.  The social welfare officer wants to go with us when we deliver it to make sure he has her registered.

We got out early this morning and started cutting the dead wood out of the big mango tree in the front yard.  We thought that surely the chain saw and all the activity would frighten the bats away but the tree is so big that they just flew from one side to the other.  After Steve cut a branch he climbed back up the ladder and painted the area that he cut to try and ward off rot.  We also cut down a tree in the side yard that had died.  I was afraid it was going to fall on the fence but it fell right where Steve said it would fall.  We used a helper rope to help pull it away from the wall.  We gave the wood to Nazo for his wife to make charcoal.  He was very happy to get the wood.

When Steve started cutting up the dead tree a snake popped out!  It was not a large snake but a snake none the less and probably poisonous!  It was a bit frightening to say the least.  Nazo, the day man, is terribly afraid of snakes.  When Steve was trying to kill it and it was striking at him, Nazo kept say, “It is HOT, that snake is HOT!”  He meant the snake was angry!

When we tried to start the green truck this morning it would not turn over; let’s get real it would not even make an effort to start.  The battery was completely dead.  We figure that when the electrician reconnected the emergency flashers and the tail light yesterday he caused a short of some sort.  We will have to take it back to him tomorrow.

Mr. Oldman our neighbor just left.  He said that he had not seen us in a while and wanted to check to make sure that we were doing well.  We like to visit with him because he knows lots about what is going on in town.  We asked him about the man that was killed earlier this year.  He said that he had heard about it at the time it happened but he did not know the man.

It is time for supper so I will close for now.  Take care and have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
