I thought today was my brother Ric’s birthday but when I called him I figured out that his birthday is really tomorrow so he got his birthday wish early.
We left Yendi this morning at 4:30 and arrived in Wa shortly after 12:00. The road was good most o the way. We did not have any trouble finding Wa and Red met us on the outskirts of town to lead us to the hotel. My brother Paul, Bro. Enoch and another brother were waiting to greet us when we arrived.
We had enough time after we arrived to go to the Hippo Sanctuary. I was so excited to get to go. We had tried to see the hippos a couple years ago but it was during the rainy season and they told us that it is difficult to find them when there is so much water and lots of green stuff for them to eat. We were not sure if we would get to see them today so we were very pleased when we saw 11. They were on the other side of the river bank. Our guides did not want to get too close in case they decided to get aggressive. A couple men paddled us down the river in a metal canoe type boat. It was so hot but the ride was very pleasant. We were out about on the water about an hour. Steve and Red decided not to go. Red cannot swim and is afraid of the water and the boat. It took us as long to get to the river as it did to take the boat ride. Timothy and Divine went with me; they had the best time. Divine grew up around the water so he can swim very well. Timothy cannot swim but he did not want to turn down the opportunity to see hippos.
By the time we got back from the Hippo Sanctuary it was time to eat supper. There is a little restaurant in the hotel so that is where we ate supper. The menu contained mostly Ghanaian food but they did have French fries which made Paul and Steve happy.
We are tired so I will close for tonight. Thank you for the prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
