Hello From Yendi!!!

Gina and I made it to Accra yesterday morning as Kandie told you in yesterday’s notes.

I wanted to add a few details about our journey over to Ghana even though she had shared some of it with you yesterday.

We didn’t even get past the ticket counter in Huntsville before we had a curveball thrown at us.  We were not aware that we needed to present the credit card to the agent that we used to purchase the tickets (which we bought in July!).  I have two credit cards and left one at home for security reasons.  Well, you guessed it, that was the card I used to buy the ticket.  I asked the agent why she needed to see it.  She said it was to prove I was the one who bought the ticket.  I told her, you have my passport in your hand that proves who I am.  Her reply was “you need the card”. I then went to my banking app and showed her the card account and the ticket purchase. “NOPE”.

We obviously weren’t getting anywhere so the short story is I canceled the ticket and repurchased.  This caused us to miss our flight to Detroit.  We got rebooked to Atlanta to JFK to Accra.  This did not make us miss our planned rendezvous with the Taylors in Accra but made us have some tight connections.  Did I mention this card requirement only applies to travel to Africa.  Who knew???

After arriving in Accra, I was worried we wouldn’t find the Taylors at the terminal.  We walked out the terminal and I hear this 100db yell, “PEEERRRYYYY!!  No doubt who that was. You camp folks can relate to that.

I will jump to today’s events.  We flew from Accra to Tamale without a hitch. Lightyears better than that overland, long van ride that many have had to endure in the past.

We got to Tamale and had a nice relaxing lunch at  the Taylor’s favorite restaurant.  Guess what we did next?? You know it, SHOPPING.  We were with Kandie after all.

I had all of our cash so Gina would come to me to pay for something. I thought I would try a different strategy, so I went to another shop so it wasn’t so easy for Gina to find me.

Didn’t work… Kandie would loan Gina the money and then I had to pay Kandie back.

We got to Yendi around 6:30pm and got everything unloaded and are settling in.

Tomorrow the LORD’s work begins – I preach at a congregation in the bush. I plan on talking about Abraham.

Thanks to all for your prayers.
