Nazo was discharged today. He could not check out until he paid his bill so he came to the mission house to get the money. Steve took him up to Yendi’s disease control office to have the Coronavirus test done but it was a sputum test and Nazo’s cough this morning was unproductive. The officer advised us to send him to Tamale so they could do a better test. Steve gave Nazo the money and he is supposed to go tomorrow; hopefully he feels well enough to get on a crowded bus and make the 2 hour one way trip. Imagine the number of people he will be infecting on the bus if indeed he has the virus! Sure am glad I don’t have to rely on public transport.
I saved Meri’s baby from falling off the coffee table onto the cement this morning. Every day that Meri has been to work she puts the 3 month old baby on the coffee table while she does her work. The first day I said, that baby is going to fall off the table. No one believed me. If she did not turn over and fall off she could wiggle herself off. I walked out of the house to check on the work when I noticed the baby fussing and about to slip off the table. Zorash was supposed to be watching her as she was cutting fabric. I shouted, “She is falling!” Zorash was trying to get to her; but I reached out and caught her by the back of her clothes as she slipped from the table. She did not hit the ground but it scared her and she cried and cried! Meri kept thanking me for saving the baby. Guess what? They did not learn anything; the next time I came out of the house the baby was laying on the table again.
When Meri started cleaning the motorcycle shed she found a large nest of wasps. She is scared of all things creepy. We alerted Steve, and he was on it! Nothing delights him more than killing creepy crawlies. Meri went back to cleaning and a straggler stung her.
We finally got the new safe set up in Mr. Iddrisu’s roundhouse and taught him how to use it. We had a limited selection of safes and this one has finger recognition, key pad and emergency key. He was a bit confused about how to use it; but he will get the hang of it.
The safe is so cheaply made that we doubt the finger recognition will work for very long.
We got the green truck back this afternoon. It jumped right off so the starting problem is fixed. Maybe that will be all the maintenance we have to do on it for a while.
While we were walking this morning we met Moses from the church at Bakpaba. He just wanted to greet us and welcome us back. He had come to see us on Monday but we had gone to Tamale.
Take care; keep praying for us and the work.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
