Tomorrow is the day that we have to turn in the “Withholding” tax so we spent a good portion of the day working on the books.  We thought that we were going to put the books “to bed” when I realized that I had entered the Lawyer’s retainer fee in January as well as February!  Oops!  We had just about gotten that mess sorted out thanks to Steve and his calculator when I realized that the receipts for the Withholding tax did not match my entries because the tax office grouped all the same people on one receipt.  They only give us receipts once or twice a year.  Since the receipts were for different amounts I thought that they were different payments.  Oops! Again!  We could not cross check the dates on the receipts against the amounts in our account book because the secretary used the date that she made out the receipt not the date the purchase was made or the money withheld.  We are still not sure that we got every receipt entered.  We will know better how to do it next year.  That is if we can remember till next year!  But upon all that the audit is almost ready to take to the accountant.  We just have to wait a few more days to close out December.

Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu painted the waterproof paint again today.  They were working like a house afire!  They used 10 gallons of paint today which is quite a feat considering they are using paint brushes not rollers.  Nazo said he liked the waterproof paint because it went on so smooth.

Amama did not come to work today.  Zorash called to see if she was sick.  She said that her brother’s wife delivered a baby yesterday but something was wrong with the baby so they brought the baby to Yendi hospital.  It was only there a few hours before it died.  Amama said that her brother lived in Bimbilia which is a few hours away from Yendi.  They decided that they would bury the baby in Amama’s yard.  If a baby is young they usually just bury the baby in the courtyard of the house.  Sometimes they even bury the older people in the yard; it just depends upon their wishes.  Many do not want to be buried at the cemetery because it is too far away from people.  Amama had to cook for all the visitors before they went back to Bimbilia.  Amama came to work at about 11:00 this morning; she looked exhausted!  We sent her back home.  We knew that she had lots to do.  So sad!

Today I got out the pattern for the face masks and had Zorash cut some masks out of the prettier fabric scraps.  I think the fabric will make beautiful masks; of course they are very brightly colored; people will have no problem seeing me coming!

Take care and have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
