Divine stopped by on his way back from Tamale to pick up his motorcycle. I don’t know if you remember that the Church at Kpamang started a school a few years back for the children in 4 or 5 of the communities around Kpamang. Rusty Johnson’s (one of the elders at West Hobbs Street) father was instrumental in funding the building. Over the years the school has grown and has outgrown the building. Divine said that they were in the process of trying to gather enough money together to add on to the building. We don’t have money to build schools but we do have left over used tin roofing sheets that were taken off the mission house earlier in the year. Steve offered them to Divine and he was more than thrilled. He jumped on the idea. He said that if they had the roofing sheets they could use the money that they raised to buy metal poles. They are planning on making a type of open air classrooms. No one comes to school when it rains anyway and the pavilion style structure would be nice and cool.
Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu finished painting the mission house with the waterproof paint this afternoon. It looks awful because the waterproof paint is black but when the white paint goes on it will be beautiful again. This will keep the house from getting the black mold and we will not have to paint so often!
Zorash and Amina came this morning and helped us get the house ready for our departure. They swept and mopped all the floors; cleaned out the little refrigerator and peeled a bunch of garlic that I did not want to go to waste. Of course we sent everything else that we were not going to be able to eat in the next few days home with them. They were happy girls today!
This afternoon we went to the mechanic that put the new used engine in the truck to pick up the engine block. We want the block to use for an anvil. Gomda told us that they had locked the block up in someone’s shed and that the owner had gone to Accra. We told him to make sure that nothing happened to it while we were gone. He assured us that it would be safe until we returned. Steve asked me how I thought that I was going to unload the block out of the truck if and when we get it. I told him I was going to put a rope around it; tie it to a tree and drive the truck out from under it. He just laughed!
After it cooled down we went out and cut on the trees again. This property is full of trees.
Thank you for your love, prayers and support.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
