Steve had Gomda the mechanic change the oil and filters in the old van today. The emergency brake had not been holding so he had him take a look at that too. It needed new rear brake pads. It seems to be working fine now. Who knew that the brake pads affect the emergency brake but it makes sense.
Zorash was not here yesterday because she had to go to Tamale for a naming ceremony. She thought she would be back today but for some reason she was delayed. Hopefully she will be back to work tomorrow. Amama was out again today. Her daughter got to go home from the hospital but Amama wanted to stay at home with her one more day to make sure that she was really ok and tolerating the medicine well. She said that she will come back to work tomorrow; sure hope so!
We got a visit this afternoon from Iddrisu, the double amputee that we helped get new legs. He has had his legs for several years and he loves them. He is very proud of his motor scooter that was adapted to his special needs. We see him zooming all over town on it. The funny thing about new motorcycle here is that the new owner never takes the plastic that they were wrapped in when they were shipped. They just drive around with all this plastic and tape still on the motorcycles. It looks very strange. We think they want everyone to know the motorcycle is new. They even leave the plastic around the motor on which has to be very hard on the engine in this heat! Iddrisu’s motor scooter still has all the plastic on it.
The elderly lady that brought a baby to the Center yesterday whose mother had been in the hospital since the baby was born 36 days ago came back this morning. We had sent her to the hospital to get a prescription for formula she could not get it yesterday and she was unsuccessful getting it this morning. Steve finally decided to take the lady to the hospital himself and talk to the doctor and explain the situation. Just before we closed the lady came back with the prescription. The baby was so very hungry and so very happy when his tummy was full!
Nazo has an ear ache; anyway he thinks it is his ear that is hurting. He said he was not sure that it was not his teeth because all his teeth hurt when he eats. We sent him to the dentist once before and it was a big mess! The dentist wanted to pull his tooth and when Nazo saw him coming with the needle he ran away and never went back. It was a big waste of money. Yesterday he started taking some antibiotics and I gave him some Aleve. He said that he was feeling better this morning.
Hope you have a great day. It is time for evening Bible study so I will close for now.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
