We started today with a fine breakfast at the “Kandie Kantina” before heading to Niliyuundo Church of Christ.  It is about a 45-minute drive south of Yendi.  The road was really nice until we turned to take the trail to the village which wasn’t too bad.

We greeted some Church members before going over to pay our respects to the chief of the village.  We asked him how his garden was doing and then Steve gave him his Kola ($$). This was the first time Steve and Kandie had met this chief since he was new.  The previous chief had died.

We started services with prayers and singing.  The singing is quite beautiful even though I cannot understand the words.  Timothy would explain to us the meaning of each song.

I preached a lesson about Abraham and the great example he is to us in terms of faith and fatherhood.  We had a Q&A session afterwards with many questions concerning polygamy.

Before leaving the village, they gifted us 10 huge yams and a chicken.  This is a great example of giving.  They are a poor people but proud so refusing the gift would have been insulting to them.  Timothy took the bulk of the gift but Kandie kept a few yams so Gina and I could try them.

On the way home we had a flat tire.  Steve was in the middle of jacking up the van when some men stopped to help.  Nice of them to help us. This reminded me of the Christmas Story father changing his flat.

The afternoon was us having some beef stew that Kandie prepared in a crock pot.  We had a few hours to relax so we spent some time being introduced to Skeeter.

This evening, we worshiped at the Kulkpeni Church of Christ.  I taught the same lesson on Abraham.

Gina and Kandie are sorting crayons to get ready for VBS tomorrow.  Hopefully I have taken long enough on writing these notes that they are finished.

Thanks to all for your prayers.
