Did you ever have one of those days when the morning just didn’t seem to go very well?  This morning was one of those days.  The power went off around 2 am.  Luckily, our bedroom was cool enough we were able to sleep comfortably without me getting out of bed and going out and starting the generator.

We were expecting Gomda, the fitter (mechanic), to come around 7:30 this morning because the van didn’t have lights last night when we brought it to the house. I in turn contacted Gomda last night.  I tried to start the pickup this morning and it wouldn’t start. When Gomda arrived he switched out the batteries so we could use the pickup to go to the bush.  Gomda drove the old van to his shop to figure out why it didn’t want to start. I let the pickup run for 30 minutes while we waited for Timothy Niligrini to arrive because we were afraid the truck might not start again.  When Timothy arrived we were all ready to go. By the time we reach the main road the air conditioner and all the electrical stuff was dead. At this point we were afraid the truck wouldn’t make the trip so we went back to the house and got the red pickup, drove both trucks to Gomda’s place for him to work on the old pickup.

I needed to drive a 4 wheel drive vehicle this morning because we were traveling to Bincheratanga on the road toward Bimbila south of Yendi. There are a lot of detours off of the main road that requires going through water which makes the newer blue van a bad choice since it is lower to the ground and it doesn’t have 4 wheel drive.  We made it safely without an incident to Bincheratanga.  On the way we stopped at the Church at Bakpaba to give them some matching money to help them buy the lumber needed to build their roof for their new church building. They were very happy to get the money.

The Church is very small at Bincheratanga.   They meet in a school room.  There were a total of 21 people present for services.  Because the new pickup’s cap wouldn’t allow us to put a bench in the bed of it we just gave the church the money for them to purchase a bench in the village.  For my lesson I used the Mathews account of Christ feeding the 5,000 using seven loaves of bread and two fish in chapter 14:13-21. It was a lesson of encouragement to show that even when we are few in number God can use us to do great things.

Please pray for this small congregation that they might grow and do the Lord’s work. Before we said goodbye we sent some money to be given to the chief as is our custom.

When we got back to the house the electricity was still off.  Around 4:30 our neighbor Mr. Oldman came by for a visit. He told he had electricity.  He suggested going to the electrical company to see if we could enlist some help.   Three men came with us; two men watched while one man did the work. The meter at the Child Center has the same problem as the meter at the house.  The worker rigged the wiring so we have power.   He will return in the morning to figure out what to do. I had to take the men back to town which made us run late going to Kulkpeni for bible study.

Hope you are having a good Lord’s Day and may God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
