Donkey did not come to work today and he will be out tomorrow too because of all the things that are going on at the palace in connection with the big festival.  The men were picking rice again today which is so funny to us because men don’t cook!  All the men here are desperate to get a wife so they will have someone to cook for them!  We were joking on Donkey this morning with Zorash and Meri; we wondered if Donkey would even know what he was looking for when he sits with the other men around a mountain of rice.

Mid-morning the thunder clouds rolled in and the sky got dark; we could tell that the rain was on its way!  When it rains or looks like it is going to rain the mothers will not bring the babies out.  Meri walks to work and Zorash, Mr. Iddrisu and Amama ride motorcycles.  We decided to let them go home early so they would not get wet.   It is no fun to be wet, especially when you are riding a motorcycle!

When they left it gave Steve and me time to work on Child Center stuff.  It was nice to get a free block of time to catch up on some stuff.  This afternoon we went through the accounts and gathered the rest of the information we needed so Steve could finish the Social Welfare report.  It still needs to be edited but that is the small job.  It will be nice to be able to put that project to bed!

It did not rain hard, just nice and steady for about 2 hours and then it drizzled off and on for the rest of the afternoon.  The rain cooled everything down.  The last time I looked at the thermometer it was 76 degrees which is very cool for us!  It felt nice but we know the Ghanaians will be freezing!  They will have to sleep in extra clothes tonight!  When the temperatures get cool like this the night watchmen sleep in their rain coats and a toboggan.  Steve brings toboggans from the states for them because  you know it is “bitterly cold”!  I wonder how the Ghanaians stand the temperature change when they travel outside of Ghana!

Thank you for the love, prayers and support!

The Monkeyshines

I was not happy when lunchtime rolled around and Mom put me in my jail cell and it was raining!  Monkey and rain are not a good combination!  I know Dad does not want me to be in the house while they are eating but one would have thought that he would have made an exception in this extreme case!

I told you that I was strong enough to move the metal bookcase; not only can I move it;  I can pull it out into the room far enough that I can reach all the “forbidden” stuff that is on the bookcase!  Well, Dad decided that he was going to fix it so that I could not move it any more.  He brought a cement block in the house and set the cement block on the bottom shelf of the bookcase.  Guess what?  This afternoon they left me alone for a few minutes and I pulled the bookcase away from the wall.  I only moved it about 8 inches before they came back into the room.  I quickly jumped away from the bookcase and tried to look as innocent as I could!  Can you imagine how strong I am going to be when I am full grown?  I will be a beast!

I am going to be King Kong!
