Poor Steve has been working on the audit for the books for the Child Center. Some of the receipts he had a hard time with because I was the one that wrote them and even, I was confused. It would be easier if we were not matching funds with the churches that were working on building projects and if we were just paying for the building outright. The church brothers have worse bookkeeping skills than I do. They come with scribblings on paper or worse figures in their heads. We then have to transcribe the figures onto a receipt. Please, it makes my head spin! We finally muddled through and we think we have it all figured out.
This morning we did lots of things to help get us ready to leave. We washed corn and soybeans so we can cook the weaning mix tomorrow. We divided the 50- pound bag of sugar so we would have sugar to leave for the severely malnourished children as well as the sugar for the weaning mix. We cooked the peanuts. We boiled and cut up the yams that we are going to put in Skeeter’s food when we leave. We gave away the extra suitcases. Every time we come to Ghana, we bring 8 suitcases but we can only take 4 back home with us. When we get enough to give to each of the employees we have a suitcase distribution. They love to get them because they use them to store their clothes in. The suitcases are usually the biggest ones we can find. None of them are in perfect condition because we buy them at the thrift stores and yard sales, you know how cheap I am, I am not going to spend any more money on anything than I can get away with!
The wind is blowing and it is trying to rain. The electricity went off a few minutes ago but it is back on now. It usually waits until it actually starts raining before it goes off. A few days ago, we were without power all night and half the day. Shani, one of the guys from the electric company, called and said that they found the problem; there was a bird in the lines. Oops! There go the lights again. Good thing there is a lighted keyboard on this computer. I know how to type; no hunting and pecking for me! I probably could type without a lit keyboard; the computer screen puts out lots of light anyway.
Kwabena, the night watchman, has cataracts; we told him to go to Yendi hospital and get on the list. Every so often surgeons come to Yendi hospital and spend the whole day/week doing cataract surgery. He told us yesterday that they called him and he is supposed to get the surgery done next week. We are excited for him.
Enjoy your day!

The Monkeyshines
I still have not been able to move into my new condo! Red did not come to work on it today but he promised that he would come tomorrow. Mom put a new water bowl in the door of the condo; I love it! I have one in the jail cell but it is plastic and you know how I worry about those micro plastic pieces getting into my little brain. This dish is much better because it is stainless steel and when I look into the bowl I can see myself! Let me tell you I am a handsome monkey!
I played in the condo for several hours today; it was nice. Then I spent a good portion of the afternoon on the veranda. I know how to open the door and go in; I bet I opened and closed the door 50 times this afternoon. A little while ago Dad put me back in my jail cell. I am not happy because it is lightning and thundering and the wind is blowing and the dust is flying and I cannot like it! Mom came out when she heard the wind start blowing and tried to give me a bottle but I am having none of that! I begged her to let me come inside but she said that it was supper time and I am not allowed in the house when it is time to eat! Poor me!
Pray that I make it through the storm!
Love, Skeeter
