Today was another busy day.  After breakfast, Kandie and I headed to the hardware store to pick up some supplies to put vent pipes on the new bathrooms at Kulkpeni where we will be conducting the seminar next week. Once we got our supplies we returned to the compound for some shade while we put the components together in order to reduce our installation time at the site.  Did I mention the temperature was 101deg with 109 heat index?

We got to the Kulkpeni Church site and hauled our stuff all the way across the compound.  We could have driven the truck over to the bathrooms but we had forgotten the keys.  Did I mention the temperature was 101deg with 109 heat index?

As we started the installation, we noticed that the connecting pipe to the vents from the “septic pit” had tin and concrete blocking it. So, we had to chisel the hole clear while straddling the access hole to the septic pit.  Did I mention the temperature was 101deg with 109 heat index?

We finally got our 1st vent stack installed and secured to the back wall of the bathroom.  We have seven more of the vent pits to install.  John (the mason), is supposed to clear the remaining septic pit vents and put the covers over the pits (total of 7).  The plan is that we will install the remaining vent pipes tomorrow if he gets them cleared, if not, we will do it Saturday.  Did I mention the temperature will probably be 101deg with 109 heat index?

Steve and Gina worked at the Child Center again today.  They had a steady stream of mothers with their precious babies. Following lunch, Steve, Kandie and I headed out to Divine’s (a church member) to see him about a pig to buy to feed the folks at the seminar.  He had a nice big, black pig but I could tell he was in for it when he told Kandie what price he wanted for it.  Needless to say, Kandie (the master shopper, negotiator) got it for the price she wanted to give. Two other pigs are already purchased but a 4thmay be needed to feed everyone.

We had to hurry back to the house so we could get ready to go to Borido for our final day of VBS there. Timothy and his wife, Rita, went with us, as well as Zorash, as interpreters.  Both Gina and I taught Part 2 of Joseph’s life from interpreting Pharaoh’s dreams to Joseph reuniting with Jacob.  Gina’s group had 53 children and in the adult class we had 32.    Again, their favorite part was the coloring, until we all marched to the church building then the children went in and got a glow stick bracelet. We shut the doors and it was pitch black, then the kids sang “This little light of Mine”. Nothing sounded sweeter to my ears.

After we got the kids out, the adults went in with bracelets and they sang a song I was told meant “I come into this world with nothing but I go to the Father in heaven for everything”.

We returned home around 6:30 and are ready for dinner, a shower, and a good night’s sleep.  Tomorrow is planned to be another busy day.

Thanks to all for your prayers.
