The church men did better than we thought they would do coming in today to sign their paperwork. Only 2 congregations were no-shows; one of them came to Yendi yesterday and he wanted to know if he could sign all the papers for all the signers. We were not sure if that was allowed so we called Divine. He was out of phone coverage and the brother had to get back home. The other church that did not come today is led by one of the evangelists; Daniel. When Steve called him, he said that he knew about the signing but he was not well informed and he and the other men would come tomorrow. Steve has spent the rest of the afternoon checking and cross checking the documents to make sure that in the flurry of activity this morning no one got overlooked. We made duplicate copies of all the documents in case they get lost or misplaced; a copy of the copy will be able to be printed. In the past we have had lost documents through no fault of our own! Steve had to rig up another file box to hold the documents. He used one of those metal hanging file holders that allows any container or drawer to be turned into a file box. He hopes to have them all sorted, alphabetized and filed before supper.
Gomda is working on the green truck. Steve noticed that it was sitting lopsided which usually means a suspension problem of some sort. Gomda found the problem, it was the front roller rocker arm; he had to have something rethreaded because the threads were ruined and a bolt was broken. He found a replacement rocker arm in Yendi and he is going to replace the bearings and bolts. The truck is old and it has taken a beating from these roads over the years! We are happy it is still going. Gomda also said that he cleaned out the air conditioner hose that allows the condensation to flow out onto the ground instead of inside on my feet. I told him I did not mind the water dripping on my feet because it cooled me off! He thought that was so funny!
Speaking of heat, the high temperature today was 113-degrees with a 126-degree heat index. Maybe rain is in our future. Most of the church leaders came to the mission house on their motorcycles today. You would not believe how many of them were wearing jackets and sweatshirts with hoods! Made me hot just looking at them! We are thankful to have an air conditioner in our bedroom!
Have a great day!

Mom knew that it was going to be very frightening for me to have all those men milling around today so she saved me. She thought that she was getting up early enough to get me out of my jail cell and to a safe location before the men started arriving but she was not fast enough. The first men arrived at 6:30! Please! Everyone should still be asleep at 6:30. Mom had to work quickly to get me out of jail and around to the front of the house before Dad let the men in the gate. The parents knew that the men would not be able to come into the yard without staring at me through the bars of my cell. The parents also fixed me a new run so that I could be in the backyard all morning and still be in the shade. A sunburned Monkey would not be attractive!
I tried the round Bambara beans for supper; they were weird but after the 3rd time Mom gave me one, I decided that they were pretty good. They are perfectly round and I have to peel them. There is no way that I am going to eat the skin of anything! I even peel my grapes! I don’t think they are really beans, no more than I think peanuts are nuts. Bambara beans grow underground and have a shell like peanuts so how can they be a bean?
Mom says they cause gas just like other beans.
Love, Skeeter
