The streets were bare this morning when Steve and I went for our walk! Last night was one of the nights that the Muslims stayed up all night praying. Some of them believe that if you pray all night Allah is more likely to answer your prayer. To help keep their members on track with the praying, the guys that call for the prayers stay up all night crying over the loudspeakers. We heard them calling all night. Thanks to the drone of the air conditioner the crying did not bother us too much. It is very eerie to hear them chanting all night! Even if you were not up praying all night you would not have been able to sleep very well. I guess everyone slept in this morning after being up all night. The children were not even roaming the streets.
Steve could not take the leaves on the front patio so he raked them up. Mango trees are sort of like Magnolia trees in the fact that they drop leaves every day. They are not like Oak trees that drop their leaves once a year and then you are free for another year. Donkey rakes the yard every day. This is a big yard and he does a great job of keeping the leaves up; if we could just get him to realize that he is also hauling gravel when he picks up the leaves. He uses a piece of plywood like a dust pan and gets gravel and dirt with every scoop of leaves. Since the workers are all on holiday the leaves have been piling up. I felt sorry for Steve out there raking in this heat but not sorry enough to go help him. I am no dummy and leaves don’t bother me!
Steve fiddled with the weather station and it started working again. He changed the batteries and knocked off some of the dust. The high temperature today was 109 degrees with a heat index of 117 degrees. Too hot to be raking leaves!
My sewing was slow and tedious today! I am now sewing the tiny clothes onto the blocks. Does not sound difficult but I really need an industrial machine. My needles are taking a beating because at times I am trying to sew through 6 and 7 layers. I have no idea how many times my thread has broken and I have had to rethread the machine. I could use a heavier thread but I want to use the invisible thread and it is very light weight. I tried a bigger needle but that made things worse. I could have bigger problems than thread breaking; I could have a sick child and no money to get them help so I will stop complaining!
Since Amama is not here either there is no one to do the ironing. This morning Steve decided to iron his blue jeans. I told him I would show him how to iron a crease in the legs but he said he did not care about having a crease. Notice I did not volunteer to iron them for him. Ha!
Enjoy your weekend!

I was minding my own business playing in the big mango tree when some children walked by and spied me! They stood at the gate and made so much noise that Dad took me out of the tree and put me up on the veranda. I was not happy about this arrangement! It is much more fun to play in the tree!
I got to take a nap with Dad this afternoon; it is the first nap we have taken in a while! It was lovely! Dad snores and that wakes me up but I just snuggle back down and go back to sleep! When I wake up from a nap, I am wild! If I am awake, I want everyone around me to be awake. Dad is always my first target! I roll around on him, picking at his face, eyes, and neck. Then I get a toy and start throwing it around making sure to hit him with it every now and then! Eventually, he has enough and gets up! It was a great time had by all, especially me!
We need to put up gates that the kids can’t see through then I would have more privacy!
Love, Skeeter
