After we went for our walk, we got ready to go to Tamale. We decided that we did not want to go back to Tamale about Steve’s nursing license until we called to see if their electricity and server were working.  At 9:00 Steve started trying to get in touch with the office’s secretary. He did not have any luck; we were about to go over to Tamale and hope for the best when I remembered that the head officer had called Steve the other day. We pulled up her phone number and gave her a call. She told Steve to send her a copy of his nursing license and PIN number and she would check to see what was wrong with it.  Around 2:00 she sent him a message and told him that the PIN number in the computer did not match the PIN number on his license. She sent him the correct PIN number and password; as soon as he entered the correct numbers the portal popped open. After he updated his profile, he started working on his continuing education credits. This new system that Ghana is using will not accept the continuing education courses that he took in the states. He worked the rest of the afternoon and accrued 1.5 credits; he needs 20. I see a lot of reading in his future. Mid-way through the first course, the electricity went off and when the electricity goes off so does the internet. He started the generator and restarted the program. He said that he will have to remember to run the generator when he is working on the courses. We are happy to be making some progress. I just wonder what the rest of the nurses, midwives, and doctors in Ghana are doing to get their courses completed. Many of them do not have a computer, it would be tedious to do the courses on your cell phone.

Mr. Iddrisu came to the mission house this morning to pick up sticks for firewood and do a little clearing in the farm plot in front of the house. He was in luck because Steve was in the process of trimming the big mango tree so we can see the front gate. Mr. Iddrisu was happy to get the firewood.

It was hot again today; the high temperature was 106 degrees. Good reason to stay in the shade. Our kids sent us pictures/video of the snow that Athens, AL got today. It was beautiful but it did not last because the ground was not very cold.

Take care and enjoy your day!

The Monkeyshines

I was slighted today! I never get to eat with the family but today I had to stay in solitary confinement longer than normal because they were working on the computer and they thought that I would be a distraction! What! Me a distraction? That could never be! I am always the calmest, most well behaved monkey that has ever been kept as a pet! It is not my fault that I get in trouble; it is usually Dad that gets me in trouble; he has an eagle eye and watches everything that I do. Well, I will have you to know that I did not get in any real trouble today.

Yesterday, I got my leash stuck in the big mango tree and Dad had to get the ladder and rescue me. Years ago, someone hung a piece of wire in the tree; it is pretty rusty but I got it twisted around my leash and could not get down. This morning Mom convinced Dad that he needed to get the big ladder and the wire cutters and remove that piece of wire before I got tangled in it again. While he was up in the tree, he also cut off a couple of tree branch stubs that were sticking up so I do not get stuck on them. It is pretty nice; I have a nice amount of room to play in the tree; the bats do not like me to be in the tree! It makes me happy to know that I am scaring them!

Say Good-bye to the bats!

Love, Skeeter
