I am annoyed with Donkey! We called Red this morning and told him that when he was free, we wanted to start making the new monkey enclosure. I went out to check the area around the tree to try to decide how big to make it. When I looked up in the tree, I noticed that many of the branches had been cut off; not just trimmed but full-sized limbs had been hacked off. I say hacked off because someone had climbed up in the tree with a machete (cutlass) and hacked off the limbs; some of these limbs were big 6 inches around. They also did not make a clean cut; the branches split making jagged edges when they came down which will cause the limbs to rot. I came in the house and told Steve. We suspected that it was Donkey that cut the branches off. We have told him dozens of times not to cut the trees; that is Steve’s job. When he does not have firewood for his house; he starts looking for something to cut! The branches he cut are the branches that we were going to enclose so Skeeter would have a natural playground and could get up off the ground and hide if he needed to! Now he will not even have shade in the morning! Donkey was raking the yard so Steve called him over and asked if he was the one that cut the tree branches; he said yes, he cut them. When we asked why he said that he thought the end of the tree branches were drying up so he cut them. Of course, they are drying up and dropping their leaves, it was the dry season! We asked him if we had ever told him to stop cutting the trees. He said, “Yes, you have told me many times. But they were drying so I cut them.” Well, at least he is honest! Cutting off the dead tip of a branch is far different than cutting off the whole branch at the trunk of the tree! I told him I was angry with him; he squatted down and started begging us to forgive him and that he would never do that again! We told him that he would do it again if he needs firewood; he said he promised never to touch the trees again. It is like we live in a land of teenagers!
Now we are trying to decide where to put the new monkey house. We might have to use trampolines to create shade for him. We will see if Red has any ideas.
This afternoon Steve went to the lumber yard and contracted to have 10 benches made for the churches. The price of fuel keeps going up so the price of lumber goes up which in turn makes the benches cost more. The carpenter that is making the benches does a really good job and he makes them stronger than the ones we can buy in Yendi market. He will have them finished in a couple days.
Have a good day!

The Monkeyshines
I got in so much trouble today! I bit Mom really hard; I made her bleed; I actually bit her 3 times. Not only did I get put in time-out for longer than usual, but I also got a spanking and she shouted at me! It was terrible for everyone concerned! But, please listen to my side of the story! I was playing on my leash in the big mango tree. Mom came out to give me my bottle and a banana. I did not eat either of them because there were 2 guinea fowls in the yard; they make too much noise and I do not like them. Mom jumped up and started chasing them; trying to make them leave the yard. That made me get aggressive and I started giving danger warning sounds to alert her that it was dangerous. She could not get them out of the yard and came back to the mango tree. She tossed my banana up in the tree so I could enjoy it later but I thought she was throwing things at me so I jumped up and bit her on her arm. She snatched me up and said, “No! Biting!” but by this time I had lost my mind and I bit her again! When she unhooked my leash to take me in the house to time-out, I bit her again; she then did not even try to hold me. I was dangling by the belt around my waste! That is when I got a spanking! She fussed at me all the way back to the house. She shoved me in the time-out box and went out of the room to put band aids on her arm. I cried and cried; Mom was teary eyed too! It was a bad day for both of us! When I finally got out of time-out I did my best to let her know how sorry I was! I sat on her shoulder and groomed her hair; I laid in her lap; I snuggled around her neck and I tried to look under her band aids. We are friends again! It has been a long time since I have been in time-out and I hope it is a long time before I have to go in there again!
Time-out stinks!
Love, Skeeter
