Steve worked on the lower poly water tank this afternoon. It has a small leak. We don’t worry too much about a leak during the rainy season but in a few months when the dry season comes and every drop of water is precious a little drip can empty a 1500 – gallon tank; which could cause us to run out of water. We will have to wait for 24 hours for the silicone Steve used to set before we will know if the leak has stopped. Hopefully this will be the end of the problem.
Steve worked on the annual Child Center report again this morning. He is in the process of writing up some of the cases the Center has helped with this year. We do not always have positive outcomes from seriously ill children. The case he wrote about today was a severely malnourished 1-year old that also had a serious vitamin deficiency and was in danger of going blind if not treated. He was in Yendi hospital for a while; then we sent him to Tamale; they sent him back to Yendi where he eventually passed away. Some of the children are so severely malnourished by the time they are brought to the Center that all our efforts cannot save them.
We went to town this morning, I needed to buy more storage containers; Steve is trying to organize the medical equipment cabinet and everything is in disarray! There is a lot of good stuff in the cabinet but if you can’t find it what use is it! Our daughter Charity loves to organize something; we might wait until she gets here and let her tackle this project. Charity and 2 of her sons are going to come to Ghana next month and help us with the work. Her youngest son, Parker, will be coming as well as her oldest son ,Taylor. We are beyond excited that they are coming. It will be Parker’s first trip to Ghana and Taylor’s second. Parker is 16 years old; he recently got his driver’s license. We love having visitors, especially first-time visitors, and being related to the visitors is just icing on the cake!
It rained heavily around suppertime. Steve said that he wished he had gotten the tank glued up yesterday so we could have caught today’s rain. Traditionally, September is the month that we get the most rain so hopefully there will still be a few rains in our future before the dry season sets in.

Mom tried to take a portrait of me on her cell phone this afternoon. She wanted a full face close up. I tried to cooperate but when she got that phone close to my face I could not help but licking the lens! She got several very close ups of my eyes and nostrils! Now what can you do with pictures of eyeballs and nose holes?
Mom lost my shirt! I like to wear a shirt when I am in the house, especially when I am in the air-conditioned bedroom! It is freezing! Finally, I crawled under the covers with Mom so I could steal her warmth! You know she knows it is too cold in that bedroom when she is fully dressed and still has to get under the covers! Why can’t they just adjust the temperature; it is not like the machine is broken and can’t be adjusted! I was so cold at one point I was shivering! Of course, the movie we were watching did not help! More horses and shooting! Even though I am scared I can’t stop watching! Sometimes I get in Dad’s lap or on top of his shoulder so I can watch from a distance!
Mom made a banana bread out of the over-ripe bananas that I refused to eat. Dad thought the banana bread was mighty nice but I personally thought it was not sweet enough and it could have used more bananas. If you are going to eat banana bread you need to be able to taste the bananas.
