Zorash called to say that she was going to be late for work this morning. She was really late; almost 2 hours late. But we were happy to see her because we were swamped this morning. If we had realized that she was going to be so late we would have had Mr. Iddrisu come and help us. Two of the babies that have hairlips came to the Center this morning. One of them had already gotten her surgery; this is the baby that has an older sister with a hair lip and whose mother also has a hair lip. The other mother with a hair lip baby was happy to see the newly repaired baby because it gives her hope that her child will look more normal next month when the baby is 3 months old. They are going to Tamale in a couple days for a review. The mother was grateful to get help paying for the transportation to Tamale.
Red came to the house this morning; we have officially started on the new monkey house. Red was so annoyed when he saw how Donkey had butchered the tree we were going to enclose in Skeeter’s new living quarters! He just could not understand why Donkey cut the tree without permission. We are still scratching our heads about that one too. Red will do part of the work at his house and bring the parts here to assemble it. It is going to be octogen shaped; we are going to have a full-sized door in the enclosure; this crawling through a 3×3 opening to get inside his cage is crazy! We are going to bolt everything together instead of welding it. This will make disassembling the enclosure much easier if we no longer have a need for it.
The electricity was off all night! Thankfully we have the generator and it was full of diesel. This morning Steve called Shani, one of the guys that works for the electric company and told him that not only was our power out but the power was out all over the neighborhood. He said that he would come out and check the lines. We were surprised that they were here within the hour. It did not take them long to figure out what was wrong. The electricity has been on all day so I guess they fixed whatever was wrong with it.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support! We appreciate all you do for us and the folks in Ghana.

The Monkeyshines
I would like to report my parents for monkey abuse! They left me outside on my leash in the big mango tree almost all night long! Well, it felt like all night long. The way this schedule is supposed to work. I play outside in the afternoon; then I come in the house and help Mom cook supper; I get to sample everything that we are cooking. Then I help them cut up my food and I get to eat a little bit of everything they put in my food dish. Before they eat their supper, I am taken back to my jail cell with my fresh dish of food. Dad changes out my water dishes so I have fresh water to drink. This all happens before it gets dark because if it is dark I do not eat. I am like a person; I do not see well in the dark. Then at around 8:00 pm Mom brings my last bottle of the day out to my jail cell and feeds me; she does not want me to have to sleep on an empty stomach!
Well, last night no one brought me into the house to help cook supper. I saw Dad take my food to my jail cell and he changed the water but he never took me off my leash! The parents ate their supper; still no one took me off my leash. The parents watched a movie; still I was in the mango tree. Finally, at 8:00 Mom brought my bottle out; I was in the tree but she did not see me; I tried to call out to her but she did not hear me. When she got to my jail house, she saw that the door was wide open. She thought that I had somehow gotten the door open and escaped. She had a moment’s panic and started calling for me to come! I would have come but I was still tied to the mango tree! I was so happy to see her; she still could not see me so I started jumping in the tree branches so she would know where I was! She was as happy to see me as I was to see her! I was starving! I did not even wait to be petted before I started drinking my bottle! I drank the whole thing without even coming up for air!
The report that I would like to make is “monkey abuse, neglect, and starvation”! I suffered all of them last night!
Don’t forget the pain and suffering!
Love, Skeeter
