We left the house this morning at 6:45 headed to Tamale.  We had to turn in the book work to the auditor today and we needed to change money.  Yesterday afternoon before Mr. Iddrisu went home he told us that he could not get the safe in his office to lock.  Steve has had to work on it before and we hoped that he could fix it again but when he dismantled the door to look at the locking mechanism he found out that this time it was not bent; it was broken.  We put “buy a safe” on our list of things to do in Tamale.

It was also time to have the new truck serviced.  Steve called and got an appointment for it yesterday.  We have never figured out why it takes so long for Japan Motors to do an oil/diesel filter change.  We were at Japan Motors before 9:00 and they told us that it would take at least until noon to service the truck.  I asked them if they had a lot of vehicles to work on and they said that since Steve had called yesterday they would get right to work on the truck.  We caught a taxi and went into town to walk around the cultural center (a small set of craft shops).  Naturally I found a few things to buy!  We could not do any of our shopping because there was no way we could haul 15 gallons of paint, a safe, and groceries around with us so to kill time we went to a little restaurant and had an early lunch.  When we got back to Japan Motors at 12:00 the truck was still not ready.  They still had to wash it.  Please, how long do you really think it will stay clean on these roads?

We marked everything off our list today which is actually an amazing feat!  We found a safe which cost more than we wanted to spend but it was a necessity.  We found the water proofing paint.  The auditor was in his office so we were able to drop off the paper work.  After we waited for about an hour we were able to change money.  The man at the Forex exchange office did not have enough Cedis to change all the money we needed to change so we had to come back after he went to the bank.  We bought 6 cases of Konkomba Bibles.  We even got our exercise in because taxis were hard to find this morning and we had to do a lot of walking.  At least it was a cloudy morning.

We got out to Kulkpeni just in time for Friday evening Bible study.  The wind has been blowing ever since we got back to Yendi; it turned Yendi into a dust bowl.   It was comical to see the bats trying to fly in the wind.  We are hoping for rain!  We have heard a few sprinkles and seen a little lightening so things look promising.

Take care and say a little prayer for rain for this area.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
