It was sprinkling when we got up this morning; which was good and bad for us. It meant that the mothers would be slow coming to the Child Center which would give us the time we needed to bottle the oil and PPP (peanut protein paste) that we would pass out in the Center but it was bad for us because it also meant that the ladies that help us in the Center would be late for work. Nazo, the day man, was the only one that was on time for work this morning because he started working before it started raining. Everyone finally showed up and lots of mothers brought their babies to see us.
A young man came to the Child Center selling things. He had his back pack loaded with a variety of things including flashlights, hand soap, hand sanitizer, bug zappers, shampoo, lotion, cologne, air fresheners, and bug spray. He had something for everyone. We probably would not have bought anything from him except that he had a terrible stuttering problem. Can you think of a worse business than a door to door salesman for someone that stuttered? We were so proud of the young man for getting out there and working that we bought tons of stuff. We bought solar powered lights with a cell phone charging feature for all of the workers. We bought air freshener, 2 quart bottles of hand soap, and a bug zapper. The man made out like a bandit! It was his lucky day! When he left he asked if he could have our contact number so when he got new things to sell he could contact us first! So sweet!
Something is wrong with Timothy the evangelist’s sewing machine. Timothy is not only a preacher but he is a tailor and a farmer too. Anyway I needed him to make us some more aprons but he could not get his machine working. He finally had to resort to taking it to a sewing repair man in Yendi. He called this afternoon and said he was back in the sewing business. This year he did not do as much farming as he usually does so he is going to have to rely heavily on his sewing skills. I have lots of work to keep him busy!
We are in Tamale right now. We are spending the night here so we can catch the first flight to Accra in the morning. Check in is at 6:00 am. We would have had to get up at 3:30 tomorrow morning in order to catch the flight barring no unforeseen problems like a flat tire. We decided it would be a lot less stressful if we spent the night in Tamale. Steve contracted with a taxi driver to take us to the airport in the morning; we will leave the truck at the hotel. We have to take the Social Welfare report to Accra for the renewal.
Thank you for all you do for us and for the work. We really appreciate the help.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
