I got up a little earlier than normal this morning so I could get a head start on the washing. I had the first load washed when Steve told me that I needed to look outside because he thought that it was going to rain. Sure enough the sky was black with rain clouds so we hurried outside and went for our walk. On our way back from our walk, it sprinkled about 10 sprinkles and the wind started blowing; I guess the wind blew the rain away from us.

Donkey was late coming to work because he too thought that it was going to rain. Mid-morning the sun popped out and I was able to get the laundry dried. The wind was also blowing and the temperature was 102 degrees so it did not take long for them to dry.

Red and his helper came to work but they did not arrive until mid-morning. We have been trying to get Red to rent a scaffold but he keeps resisting. He is at the top of the enclosure; the only reason he was able to put on the burglar mesh and the canopy is because he was standing on the tree branches. To put the burglar mesh around the outside of the cage is another thing completely. He tried with 2 ladders but he soon figured out that he needed a scaffold. He took the truck and went to town to rent one. It has worked out so well. He is working later than normal because he would like to finish with the scaffolding work before he goes home so he can return it tomorrow.

Mr. Oldman, our neighbor, is outside right now visiting with Steve. When I opened the gate for him, I asked him if he could see the monkey house from his house. He said that he heard some noise and saw something going up so he wanted to investigate to see what we were building. He said that he came by last week but no one was around, all he could see were the poles so today he wanted to come and see the structure up close.

Donkey said that the Celebrex, the doctor gave him ,is helping his leg pain that is radiating from his spine. He still walks with a limp and has to stop and squat down a lot but he is moving much better than he was last week. I don’t know what he is going to do when he finishes taking the medicine; the doctor only gave him enough for 2 weeks. Maybe if he goes back and tells the doctor it is helping, he will give him more.

Take care and enjoy your weekend!

The Monkeyshines

Mom is exasperated with Red’s helper! At least she is not exasperated with me this time! That is a good thing for me; it gives me a break when she is focused on someone else! Ha! Red’s helper is pretty worthless! He sits around more than he works; he is just supposed to be a gopher for Red; you know, go for (gopher) this and go for that (gopher). This guy even took a nap today while he was supposed to be helping Red. Mom and Dad were even helping hang and secure the wire around my Condo. Mom finally got fed up today and asked Red why his helper was not working. Red said, “I don’t understand that guy, he was sleeping!” Mom told the boy that she would help him help Red. She had him move the big ladder inside the monkey house so he could help latch down the wire. He did not know how to catch and twist the wire so she made him come down off the ladder and gave him a lesson and showed him exactly what to do. He just stood there and looked at her; she turned to Red and asked, “Is this boy normal?” Red laughed and said, “Sister Kandie, don’t mind him! (don’t worry about him) Mom said, “I am going to mind him! He needs to help you and if he can’t help you then you need to find someone else to bring tomorrow or make him leave his cell phone at home! The boy can hear English so he understood what Mom was saying and an amazing thing happened, the boy started working! Not only was he working he was bending and tying the wires the way Mom told him to!

I guess everyone is afraid of Mom; no matter what country you are from or what language you speak!

Mom is SCARY!
