We are so surprised and pleased that the well pump repair man got the well pump at Kulkpeni fixed this morning. He ordered the parts from Tamale and they came on the early morning bus from Tamale this morning. Timothy called to tell us that the parts had arrived and that the mechanic was ready to start working; he wanted to know if we needed to see the parts before the man reassembled the well pump. This is a non-electric hand pump. We told him that we did not need to see them and he should call and let us know when the pump was fixed; up and running. Shortly before noon the man had finished everything. Steve took a chain and a couple padlocks with us when we went to see the pump. The chief’s elders told us that we should lock the pump until the seminar to make sure nothing happened to it and we had plenty of water for the people who would be attending. We are happy that job has been finished.

Our next concern is where to buy the pigs for the seminar. One of the guys we bought from last year had terrible trouble with his pigs this year. He said that he had 36 pigs and that they all died! What a terrible loss! There is a man at the preacher training school in Tamale that sells pigs. Timothy called him to see if he had any; he said that he does and he is going to send us pictures of the pigs to see if we want to buy them. Of course, there will probably be the added cost of transporting them from Tamale to Yendi but it is what it is. Timothy said we could buy a cow for the cost of the pigs but we are not sure how much meat would be on a cow compared to pigs. Timothy said that they can eat every part of the cow; the skin, intestines, organs, hooves etc. He thinks we would probably get just as much meat. They eat the skin of the pigs but not the intestines.

We set Donkey to painting the wall around the mission house yesterday. Mr. Iddrisu is such a slow painter that he cannot keep up with the work. Donkey can flat slap on some paint but the problem with him is that he is so messy! We can only have him paint the walls and flat surfaces because he gets paint everywhere and complains when we make him clean it up! In the past 2 days he has painted the inside and outside of the wall at the Child Center.

I spent a large portion of my day entering receipts. Steve spent a little time working on his lesson. He had to make another trip to the vehicle office this morning because he noticed that they did not sign off on his road worthy book. When he got to the office the manager said that he was aware that it was not signed because he was not in the office yesterday to sign them. Excuse me! That is a good way for us to get in trouble if the police stop us or next year when we go for renewal; they will penalize us for not being signed. My brother Paul just went through that with his vehicle last month; there was no signature! The manager told Steve not to worry! That is easy for him to say1

Take care, have a good weekend!

The Monkeyshines

I want my money back! My sister Charity brought me a gift of mirrors when she came to visit me. They are wonderful; I just love them and will spend hours gazing into them. Well, the package says that they are unbreakable! They are not unbreakable! That is false advertising! They can be broken because I broke one today! They are plastic but they are not unbreakable! I broke mine straight down the middle! I also broke pieces off the edges! That silver stuff that makes the reflection is defective too! I was able to peel large pieces of the silver off; it is nothing more than a sheet of silver plastic film! It did not break when I dropped it; it broke and chipped when I bit it! The company needs to test their unbreakable products on a monkey before they make claims that they are unbreakable! At least they came in a package of 10 so I have lots more that I can play with! I am sure that they are no more unbreakable than the one I destroyed today!

Mom made a new milkshake flavor today; it was really good but the first drink I took gave me a bit of a surprise! She mixed overripe papaya with over ripe banana with grape juice and powdered milk! It was a very strange combination but the more I tasted it the better I liked it! It was not as good as the banana milkshake but it was still good. She said that there is a pineapple that is getting overripe and that if I don’t hurry up and eat it, she is going to blend it next! I will give you a full review of how that one tastes!

Send me the number of a good lawyer so I can try to get my money back on the faulty mirrors!
