Steve was able to talk to one of the officers at the Nurses and Midwives Council today about not being able to pay for his nursing license. She was very helpful and after the Child Center closed this morning, he was able to pay for the license. We even got a PAID receipt. The problem is what to do with the passport photos. He called the lady back and she said that he needs to bring them and the Paid receipt to Tamale to the office and she will process the license. Really, what is the point of doing all this online if he still has to go to the office for the final processing? We told the lady that we would be over there this very afternoon. We were very excited!

As we were rushing around getting everything ready to leave, we could not find my purse. What! It did not take long for panic to set in. The purse had my billfold in it which not only contained a sizable amount of money but it also has my Ghanaian driver’s license, my non-citizen’s card, medicine and receipts. The things we are the most concerned about is the driver’s license and the non-citizen card. We searched the house from top to bottom. Looked in the vehicles, checked outside and in Mr. Iddrisu’s office and everywhere we could think to check. I asked Amama if she saw it while she was cleaning. We hunted and hunted but could not find it. The last time we can remember having the purse was at worship service on Sunday morning at Kulkpeni. We called Timothy and had him open the church building and check inside; he did not find it. We even rode out there and checked ourselves. No luck! We called one of the church leaders to see if anyone had found it on Sunday. He said “I will announce it on Sunday and if the person who found it loves God, they will return it but if they do not love God, it will be gone!” I am sure that he was trying to comfort me but it was not really working! Timothy said that because of the money they might not want to give back the purse. Steve called the officer at the Nurses and Midwife’s council and told her that we would be coming tomorrow instead of today. We spent the rest of the afternoon searching but did not find it.

Steve got on the internet to check to see how we get replacements. We have to fill out a police report for the missing items and then we have to take the report to the non-citizen card office and to the motor vehicle office and pay the appropriate fees to get them to issue me new ones. We went to the police station to find out about making the report. The officer was very kind. He suggested that we wait for about a week to see if someone turns the purse in or if we find it. He said that there is no charge for the forms but if we wanted to give the officer in charge a gift it would be in order. Ha! We are still hoping that the purse shows up!

Please keep us in your prayers! We appreciate them!

The Monkeyshines

Mr. Iddrisu’s job today was to rake leaves. Mr. Iddrisu is actually one of the few people I like; he feeds me when the parents are gone. I like Donkey too. I was tethered to the big tree this morning playing and Mr. Iddrisu was trying to rake up the leaves around the tree. I had the time of my life jumping in the leaves that he was raking. I would climb up in the tree and jump down at him while he was trying to work! I love it when he jumps because I scare him! He usually just piles the leaves in big piles to be picked up later but I was making such a mess of the leaves around the tree that he got the wheelbarrow and wheeled them off and to his garden plot! Spoil Sport! He ruined all my fun!

Hope there are leaves that need to be raked in your future!

Love, Skeeter
