Red stopped by this morning; he really wanted to start working on the new monkey cage but since we are going to have to go back and forth to Tamale next week to work out getting me a new driver’s license and non-citizen’s card, we decided that we would start working on it later next week. The purse still has not shown up. Zorash is in charge of a women’s group at Kulkpeni. She called the chairwoman of the group and told her to alert the other members to be asking around to see if anyone found the bag. The linguist of Kulkpeni went ahead and made an announcement that if the bag was found there would be a reward. This morning I had Amama and Zorash come in the mission house and help me look for it. They turned over everything and looked in every container but still could not find it. I was hoping that with fresh eyes looking for it we might find the bag. I have not given up hope yet! My Aunt Daris sent me a sympathy message about the lost bag; she included an antidote from my grandfather on my dad’s side of the family. She said that Big Dad always said that you should never carry more money than you could afford to lose! Good advice! We had more money on Sunday than normal because we were going to visit 2 churches that are in the middle of building new church buildings; the extra funds were for the next phase of their building project.
The new baby with Cerebral Palsy that I was telling you about went to the doctor with the memory stick the doctor in Tamale gave her last September that she did not know what to do with. The report was not very good; the baby does have brain damage from the prolonged delivery and cord around his neck. They also detected some seizure activity which we are sure the doctor will treat. We hope that the doctor in Yendi will explain everything that is going on with the baby to the parents but sometimes that does not happen. Since Steve has a copy of the report he can break it down in terms the parents can understand.
Donkey’s back went out on him on Tuesday; he was not able to get out of bed until he got some pain medicine and Ben-gay type ointment. He was hobbling around this morning but he said that the pain medicine seemed to be helping. Now that Donkey hurt his back and Mr. Iddrisu’s continual back pain, we only have one whole man between them! Ha!
FYI: At 3:30pm this afternoon the temperature was 110 degrees F with a heat index of 121 degrees F.
Take care and have a great day!

There is a latch on the cabinet where Mom keeps the dishes. Sometimes I can open it, especially if she has not closed it well! I got it open this afternoon while we were cooking. I don’t want all the dishes; I just want this small set of salt and pepper shakers. They are just the right size for me to hold and carry to the top of the cabinet where I sit while we cook. Well, today the cabinet hurt me! I got it open and got my salt shaker but when I tried to climb on top of the cabinet the door closed on my tail. I cried out in pain! I got my tail loose and as soon as I jumped it got me again! The problem was that my leash was caught on the edge of the door and when I jumped the leash acted like a spring and closed the door on my tail! I cried out several times before Mom came to my rescue; it seemed like an eternity! Dad was right behind her. Mom said, Sorry, Sorry!
Dad was also sympathetic but he also hopes that I learn a lesson. I can tell you here and now that I did not learn a lesson because I am a monkey!
I did not even get a bandage for my tail!
Love, Skeeter
