The masons came back today and they started removing the rubble from the back field! Mr. Iddrisu drove the motor king and we strategically placed the rubble in areas of the road that were washed out and had big potholes. They got more than half the rubble moved today; they were not all that happy when we told them that they had to break up the large pieces so a vehicle could actually drive over them. Well, the masons Dauda hired to help were not so happy; Dauda was the one that contracted the work so he knew they had to break up the rubble. Steve drove back and forth over the rubble that they dropped in the lane. That rubble filled potholes that hold water. The holes were pretty dry today but guess what? It is raining heavily right now so the water will be back tomorrow which will make it even easier for Steve to pack it as he drives over rubble.
First thing this morning, Steve and I went to the back field and pulled the razor wire out of the bushes and from under the rubble. We got all the fasteners taken off the razor wire and bundled into manageable rolls. We got several cuts from the razor wire! That is nasty stuff!
Timothy Niligrini stopped by this afternoon; today was market day and he wanted us to know that he was planning on buying material for his tailor shop. Timothy is also an evangelist; tailoring is his side business; he is also a farmer. He is a busy guy!
Red also stopped by this afternoon; we thought that he had come for the paint and turpentine to paint the grates but he said he was on another mission. He said that he had 1,000 cement blocks that he needed to sell. We told him that buying the blocks was not a problem but moving the blocks from his house in town to the mission house was the problem. We need the blocks to replace the broken ones in the wall. He said that he would get someone to load the blocks if we would allow Mr. Iddrisu to use the motor king to haul them out to the mission house. We are not going to haul the blocks until the masons are ready to start putting the wall back up or they will grow legs and walk away!
Red told us that his wife’s grandmother fell and broke her upper leg. They x-rayed it and told her that it was broken. The family does not want to go back to the doctor to have the leg set because they are afraid that she will have to have surgery and she is so very old that it would be a waste of money. What! He said that maybe they would send her to a traditional healer and have it set the local way. Meanwhile, she is just in the house lying on her mat! How sad is that? I asked Red how old she was, he said that she had to be at least 80 years old. He was surprised when I told him that I was 70 and that Steve would be 70 in January. He said we were old but we were young old; we were still strong. I think that was a complement!
Enjoy your day!

It is raining again! Mom came for a visit this evening when the rain started to slack off! She came bearing gifts; she brought me a freshly made bottle. She told me that I had to hurry up and drink it because night was coming and also more rain! I guzzled down the whole bottle without coming up for air. In the bottom of the bottles there are always a few clunks of undissolved milk/cereal. Today, there were more chunks than normal which made me happy! I love the chunks! After I finish a bottle Mom takes the top off and knocks the chunks out into her hand and I get a special treat! Dad says, “Skeeter is not spoiled; he just smells that way!” He always laughs when he says it but I do not see the humor!
Amama was back at work again today so I got to go down to the Child Center and help! I had a grand time playing on the rails around the Center. I have toys in the Child Center that I do not get to play with except when we are working. My favorite is a baby doll; I have tortured that baby in every way imaginable. One of her eyes no longer works so she has sort of a Popeye look about her! But I don’t care, I love her anyway!
Maybe I will get a new baby doll for Christmas!
Love, Skeeter
