We have had some excitement here today. Steve got up feeling fine. We went for half of our walk when the storm clouds started moving our way. We had our umbrellas but we did not want to get caught in a heavy down pour. Steve hates to get wet; I personally don’t care about being wet as long as I am not cold and wet. Cold and wet don’t really go hand in hand in this heat. When we got back to the house we moved all the vehicles out into the yard so they could get washed by “God’s car wash”. Steve came in the house and sat down at the computer to see what was going on in the world. He got up a few minutes later and said that he felt weird and wanted to know if he had been sleeping. He then lost about a 4 hour block of time in which he kept saying the same thing over and over. We decided that he really needed to go back to the states to be looked at by a doctor.
We started scurrying around; I called the airlines and got our tickets changed but they could not accept a credit card. We had to go to Tamale to a certain bank and send them a bank draft. We also needed to go to the bank and get the payroll for the Child Center and the evangelists for the next couple months. I was afraid to let Steve drive so I asked Mr. Iddrisu to go with us. As we were driving through town we met Red, the part time driver, when he realized what was going on he volunteered to drive us to Tamale. What a blessing! There are better doctors in Tamale than in Yendi so we decided to take him to the doctor while we were there. By the time we got to the doctor’s, who was not really a doctor but some sort of medical assistant, he was doing much better and not repeating things as much. Slowly he started remembering things that had happened. The medical assistant had some blood work done and we are supposed to be back over in Tamale tomorrow morning by 6:00 to get in line so we can to see the “specialist”. The medical assistant could not tell us what type specialist he was.
Steve is doing 100% better than he was this morning but we are still coming home a few weeks early just to be on the safe side. We would appreciate your prayers.
We need to get to bed so we can get up early in the morning to go back to Tamale. What fun!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
