I am late getting the notes written tonight. Steve, Mr. Iddrisu and I spent the afternoon working on the books and getting the payroll ready for September. You would think as many times as we have done this the job it would be easy for us but we have to balance the books and it never fails that we either have too much money or too little money. I would love to do them and everything balances the first time we figure them. Mr. Iddrisu had to stay later than normal today so we could finish the books. We did not know that he is going to take a week of his paid time off starting tomorrow until we were working on the books. He is going to go to Kpamang and harvest the rest of his crops. He will mostly be harvesting peanuts but he planted a little corn and millet but it is not ready for harvesting yet.
First thing this morning we took a new wheel chair to Asana, a crippled 15 year old girl. She was born with serious leg defects. Not only did she have clubbed feet she was also bow legged. Shortly after she was born she was sent to Nsawam to have the corrective surgery and she wore braces for years. She used to walk with the aid of her braces but then her mother got a wheel chair for her and she became dependent on the wheel chair and gave up the braces all together. She now uses the wheel chair to get around. Her mother is in hopes that they will be able to do surgery on her when she is 20 years old but we are not really sure what they will be able to do for her. Her mother brought her to the Child Center last week. Her wheel chair was totally worn out so when we were in Tamale yesterday we bought her a new one. She was so pleased to get the new chair. She really wants a handicapped bicycle that she can peddle with her arms.
Tonight’s Bible study was totally dedicated to answering questions. Sunday night they said they really wanted to have a time when they could just ask questions. Steve answered questions about “Gambling”, “Drinking”, and “Divorce”. It was a very interesting class and as you can imagine the class ran over the allotted time but no one seemed to care. Just before the closing prayer they said they wanted to continue with the questions on Friday night.
Please keep us and the work in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
