We got back from Tamale around 3:00 this afternoon. We drove in and out of the rain as we came to Yendi. We had a couple things to do this morning before we could leave Tamale. We went to Immigrations and filled out the forms for them to stamp our passports. We were disappointed when they told us they were no longer allowed to renew resident visas for 2 years; they could only be renewed year by year. Please! Just charge me double and let me be free! We are supposed to check back in a week to see if they have been stamped. I honestly think they wait for us to see the whites of our eyes before they stamp them.
We then went to “Enterprise”, the financial company that is going to manage part of the employee’s social security contributions. The people there are very nice but really all this is “Greek” to us so we have to rely heavily on the people behind the desk. Hopefully we can set up a bank draft to pay the contributions.
While we were at “Enterprise” Steve noticed a new office supply store. We poked our heads in to do a little window shopping. They carry all 3 of the ink cartridges we use and a good supply of electronics including ear buds. Jack’s failed him on the plane trip over and he has been looking for another set. I went to the truck and told him to come and see what they had for sale. He found a pair that he liked. Of course there was no way for him to try them and they come with no guarantee. As soon as he got back to the truck he tried them out. He is proud of his purchase.
We went to the market this afternoon and bought some rice and oil to give the workers. It has been a while since we given them a gift and we know food stuffs are always needed. They will be surprised when they come to work tomorrow. We will give the watchmen their gift tonight.
Jack is outside trying to finish Tichak’s chair. He wants to take it with us to Kulkpeni tonight and deliver it to his house before Bible study. Tichak is a member of the church. We are going to deliver it and make him promise not to tell where it came from or every member of the church will want a chair!
Take care and keep praying for us and for the work.
In His Service,
Jack, Steve and Kandie
