Paul, Red, and Enoch headed to Wa this morning shortly after 7:00.  Paul called around 2:00 this afternoon to let us know that they were almost at Wa and that they had a safe, uneventful trip.  Paul will not come back to Yendi.  They will go to Kumasi and to Sekondi-Takoradi before Paul leaves Ghana.

As soon as they left this morning Steve, Nazo and I loaded the 4ft cube shaped water container in the back of the truck and hauled it out to Kulkpeni.  Last night at 8:30 Timothy Niligrini, the evangelist, that lives in Kulkpeni called to tell us that the mason had just got off the phone with him and he was coming this morning to start raising the 3 room building that will demarcate  the property line and give additional sleeping quarters for the seminar.  We were surprised and unprepared for the mason.  Last week when we talked to him he was not even sure that he was going to accept our bid.  It would have been nice if he had given us a few days notice to get everything prepared.  As we were hauling the water container to Kulkpeni Steve contacted our neighbor Mr. Oldman so he could contact the water tanker and let him know that we need a load of water.

After we delivered the water container we went to the market to buy the food that Timothy’s wife Rita would need to cook meals for the men.  Yes, not only do we have to pay the men for their work we have to feed them 3 meals a day!  The mason/contractor hired 8 men to help make the mud balls and bring up the walls.  Around noon Timothy called and said the mason was ready for the door and window frames.  We hurried to the lumber yard and had the boards cut and planed.  We took the boards out to Kulkpeni to the carpenter so he could make the window and door frames.  There was some of the wood preservative left from the last project so Timothy painted the wood before the masons installed them in the walls.

The building is looking good; the walls are about half as high as they will be when they finish.  The workers complained that they did not have any cool water to drink.  Please if it is not one thing it is another.  We told them that we would bring them some “pure” water to drink but that we could not make it cold.  Timothy has a small freezer.  We will leave the water with him and if he wants to put it in his fridge that will be over to him.  At any rate there is no way it will get cold before they drink it; nine thirsty men can drink a lot of water.

The high temperature today was 119 degrees.  The mud balls should dry out nicely overnight.

Take care,

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
