I am the “King” of the month. Steve and I have a contest to see who can be the first to turn over the calendar for a new month. If you are the first to remember you get to be the “King” for the month. There is one rule; you cannot change the calendar before midnight. The only thing you get for being “King” of the month is bragging rights.
Steve spent the morning working on the monthly report. He got it finished shortly after lunch. Jack and I decided that we wanted pizza for lunch. Of course there is no “Pizza Hut”, “Little Caesar’s” or “Papa John’s” here so we had to make the crust and sauce from scratch. Jack was a little skeptical at first but he jumped in and helped every step of the way. When I told him to put a whole head of garlic in the sauce he had to double check to make sure he heard me right. I told him the garlic would keep away the mosquitoes. We brought some cheese and pepperoni in our carry on from the states. We can buy canned mushrooms in Tamale. After we messed up most of the dishes in the kitchen we had 2 delicious pizzas. Jack said that the pizzas were so good he would even buy them if he could
in the states. Poor guy, he has been in Ghana too long!
Jack and Steve are not here right now, they have gone into town to pick up the green truck. The front end was making a bit of a grinding noise; they took it to the mechanic this morning to see if it needed greasing or something. We need it to take it to the bush tomorrow.
This afternoon Jack and I went to town in search of some back blinker light covers of the motorcycle. On the bumpy roads they have a tendency to vibrate loose. This time Steve attached them with some silicone; that should keep them in place.
We decided to move some beds around in honor of our guests that are coming later this month. We didn’t think the grown men would enjoy sleeping on narrow bunk beds so we moved the bunk beds out of the bedroom and moved in twin beds. I fully expect them to thank us when they get here. Ha! The bunk beds had not been moved in a long time, it was amazing how much dust was under the beds.
Thank you for all you do for us and for the work. We appreciate your help.
In His Service,
Jack, Steve and Kandie
