We spent part of the day gathering paper work for the upcoming audit with the accountant. The audit is a yearly thing that we are always proud to see behind us.
Steve has been to town several times trying to find the parts he needs to extend the exhaust pipe on the new truck. When we read the owner’s manual we found out that if a cab is put over the truck bed the exhaust pipe has to be extended so carbon monoxide fumes do not build up inside the cab. Wouldn’t it be horrible to be hauling a bunch of people to the river to be baptized and kill them all? You know how people always ask silly questions like; “If you are on the way to be baptized and killed in an auto accident would you be saved or lost?” This is the new question, “If the missionaries are carrying you to be baptized in the back of their truck and you are overcome by carbon monoxide fumes will you be saved or lost?” I bet the missionaries would be sued and run out of the country! That is enough silliness for one day! I said all that to say Steve has not been able to find the clamps he needs. We will look for them when we go to Tamale on Tuesday.
The mason and his helpers did not work on the building at Kulkpeni today because the mud balls were too soft to climb on. For the mason to make the gables he has to climb on the walls because there are no real ladders in the village. They are supposed to work again tomorrow.
One of the church’s neighbors planted a mango tree right beside one of the buildings the church put up 3 years ago. The mango has grown large enough that the branches are rubbing the roof of the building. A couple days ago we talked to the man about cutting the branches but as the tree grows the roots will spread and affect the foundation of the building. We decided to move to “Plan B”. We told Timothy to ask the man if we could buy the tree from him, cut it down and dig up the roots. That is the only way we can see to fix the problem once and for all. The church members agreed that it was a good idea. Maybe he will be around tonight when we go to Kulkpeni for Friday evening Bible class.
Hope you have a great day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
