We didn’t have to get up as early this morning because our only objective was to get to the domestic side of the Accra airport for our flight to Tamale at 11:30. It was a few minutes before 9am when our ride came to pick us up. Between the two of us we ended up with 12 pieces of luggage after our shopping spree of yesterday. That included our carry-on luggage because the small jet we fly to Tamale has very little room for carry-on luggage. Right before they closed the jet door the Minority Leader of Parliament, Mr. Haruna, MP from Tamale joined the passengers for the flight. He was all smiles when he came onboard.
Red, our part time driver, was waiting on us with his second oldest son, Suweeny whom we have never met before. The boy is around 20 years old and lives in Kumasi with his mother’s family. We were glad to see Red and meet his son. Red told us his left knee has been bothering him. Someone non-medical told him if he had surgery on his knee he would be laid up for six months. That scared him so he didn’t have it x-rayed. We encouraged him to have it x-rayed but it sounds like he might just be getting older like the rest of us and plagued with arthritis. We will let you know what doctor says.
As we were driving into Tamale from the airport we stopped at Swad’s restaurant and had lunch. We noticed the van was not cooling and Red told us they didn’t have any air conditioning (a/c) this morning. After eating lunch we drove over to the south side of town to the a/c fitters shop. They found a leaky seal and replaced it. We were on our way to Yendi by 4pm riding in a cool van.
Around 5:30 we stopped at Timothy Niligrini’s house to say “Hi” and let them know we had arrived. Timothy was all smiles. As we drove through Yendi we dropped Red and his son at his shop and went on to the mission house.
As we were getting the plastic covering off of our waterbed Kandie noticed the clean sheets and pillowcases we had put on before leaving in May had a serious amount of mildew and required washing. The whole bedroom had that mildew smell to it. It is time to replace the roof on the house due to all the leaks so next dry season it will be at the top of the list to be replaced.
We had a cool 86 degrees when we arrived today. That is a lot different than the 117 degrees we left in May.
Hope you all are doing well. We appreciate your prayers for our safe return. God answered your prayers. Have a good day!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
